For the last 6 months or so, whenever I drink a coke, I start to feel sick to my stomach. This only happens with regular cokes, not diet ones.
Am I becoming diabetic?

Recommend you see your doctor SunTracker. Could be diabetes or hypoclycemia. Much would depend on family history, your age, your physical condition.
Diabetes is a danger for guys around 50 who drink too much and over eat. Never get exercise. An overfat condition brings it on. Schedule an appointment with a general practicioner, and he will direct you to a specialist for diet and exercise. Unfortunately for old farts, that's easier said than done. If you're married this will be no problem for you.
If you're younger than this and are in reasonably good shape, it's a darn good idea to see your doctor. They will set your mind at ease if nothing's wrong. And if there is, they can give you better advise.

I dont think diabetes generates any feelings in your stomach if you consume sugar. Diabetes means that your body doesent insert insuline enough in your bloodstream and your sugar levels drop below normal.
I dont think its wise to drink lots of soft drinks daily anyway, juice is better and it has fructose instead of sucrose, which is more natural source of sugar.
Eat few tablespoons of sugar and see what it does.

If I drink a coke on an empty stomache I get the same thing. Hell, they use the stuff to clean engine parts, it can't be too good for the ol' stomach lining.
Drink a few glasses of water if it happens again. Tummy will be all better in a few minutes:p

Sounds more like ulcers to me.

I'm with Lazerus on this one. Coke does the same thing to me, thats why I don't drink it. All its good for is cleaning battery terminals and rotting your teeth out.
So, if it makes your stomach hurt, don't drink it.

Diabetes won't wait until your 50 to strike. I'm 5'7'' and used to weigh 230lbs, and I was having gout like symptoms, with my big toe swelling. My doctor put me through some blood tests and my blood sugar was at 111 and my cholestoral was at 250. I was 36 at the time, and she said I could either get into shape and start eating right, or have type 2 diabetes and/or heart disease within a few years.
Since then, I've dropped down to 160 lbs, I eat right, and excercise for an hour each day. My blood sugar is down to 99, my cholestoral is down to 210, and I feel and look great. I went from size 40 pants down to 31. :)
Don't wait to start taking care of yourselves, gents. Do it starting today. You'll be glad you did!

Drink beer. Much healthier than soda.

Saw a whole show on MythBusters on this one, they proved plain old water works just as well as coke for cleaning an engine or battery terminals.
As far as coke and your teeth they disproved the myth of it rotting teeth away quickly. Granted sugar isn't to great for your teeth anyway but you get the point.

Try dropping some gunked up engine parts in a tub of water and a tub of coke. Lemme know what happens:D
Old middle school science project. First, round up some teeth (easy to do if ya live in the south). Then, get ya a can or two of coke, some tea, and some water. Let the teeth soak for a few days in each. Lemme know what happens:D

<--- Type I Diabetic
Upset stomachs do not typically mean you are becoming diabetic, and to my knowledge are not a common symptom. Excessive urination, extreme thirst, and flu like symptoms (always tired and lethargic), are more common.
However, if your diabetic (or hypoglycemic) and your blood sugar gets out of wack, it can make you have slight nausea. Which can be a real problem if your blood sugar is low, and you need to get food in you, or your going to pass out.
banana.... jeez man, your wasting away. You was such a huggely bear befwore *little kid voice* ;) Sounds like you done trimmed up!

I don't make this stuff up. ;)
Soda bubbles big deal, so now you have battery terminals that are sticky with coke residue. :D

Never said ya did.;)

Never said anything about battery terminals either(never tried that one really. Always used a wire brush, maybe some baking soda if it was bad enough).
Nor could I find evidence that Coke drivers use Coke to "clean their engines over the last 20 years". Ask yourself, why would you want to put any fluid that has a high sugar content on your engine. Once the fluid evaporates all you'll have is a sticky residue that burns and creates carbon on the engine surface.
What idiot would pour Coke on their engine? Drop the part in it, let it soak, take it out and rinse it off. Great if you don't have any degreaser to let it soak in, and you can wait overnight.
Coca-Cola contains acids (such as citric acid and phosphoric acid) which will eventually dissolve items such as teeth (given enough time),
:D

If you drink too much it burns, go to your doc.
Or come over to my howse Ill open ya up and see whats what, and have you back together good as new, or close to it, maybe some parts'll be left over, but hey you probably dont need em

Sometimes I feel very sleepy after eating something with lots of sugar. This is often accompanied by a sick feeling.
-
Just go to the Doc.

The two symptons that you will experience if you are getting diabetic is a very unquenchable thirst and the need to go to the bathroom all the time.
Also you pee will smell funny and you may get blurred vision occasionally.
-
Nah, you're fine. Ive had type 1 Diabetes for quite a few years now. Being sick when drinking a coke never happened to me, but you may want to have that checked out.
The symptoms I had were:
Excessive urination
Unquenchable thirst
hungry all the time
headache/nausea (very little)

Could be a problem. I notice that when my blood sugar is high I get drowsy, also accompanied by the sick feeling. You may want to have that checked out. Just in case, the sooner you catch it the better. (You should be OK though :D ) Probably just hyperglycemia, but still get checked out.

Sorry! I used to work in the school holidays at a Cash Security Company. We REGULARLY used coke to clean old coins. One weekend we put the coins and coke in a tin coffee can (we'd run out of plastic ones), we came back in Monday morning to find the bottom of the can had been eaten clean through and there was coke and **** everywhere.

It doesn't sound like Diabetis Mellitus, either Type I or Type II.
Type I (It used to be called Juvenile Onset) is the one where your body stops making insulin all together. These are the kids that have to give themselves insulin shots every day since their body (for some reason) decided to destroy the cells that create insulin for their body.
Type II (formerly Adult Onset-it changed because fat kids get it these days) is generally the result of either an insufficient release of insulin or because the body doesn't respond to the insulin as well as it used to. Most folks that are type II are that way because of poor eating habits, are overweight, and sedentary.
Some of the signs of DM (Diabetis) include excessive urination and thirst (someone mentioned this) although that is usually only seen with Type I Diabetics. Type IIs can have this but usually the blood sugar levels on TypeIIs don't get above 250 (normal is 75-110ish). Normally your blood sugar has to get above 300 for it to start overloading the system. What happens then is the kidneys try to strain out the extra sugar. Since Sugar draws water it takes water with it out into the urine (polyuria). You dry out and then are thirsty all the time (polydypsia). It is possible for a Type II diabetic to have these symptoms-I have seen Type IIs with blood sugars over 600 but in general it is rare.
Diabetis is called a silent killer for a reason. Most people won't have a single symptom for years. Meanwhile that excess sugar causes vascular damage that generally effects their eyes, kidneys and heart.
It sounds like it could (I mean could) be a hypoglycemic reaction although you should get more than just feeling some pain in your stomach. Hypoglycemia can result from the body over reacting to a sugar load (like a soda) by kicking out a bunch of insulin. The insulin does it's job (it's job is to transport sugar into the cells). You end up with a bunch of insulin but no sugar eventually. Your body is supposed to regulate this with another hormone called glucagon but sometimes the reaction is delayed.
If you are worried about it talk to your physician. He (or She) can arrange for some tests, ranging from a simple finger stick blood sugar to a 3 or 5 hour glucose tolerence test where they have you drink something with about 8 billion grams of sugar and they check your blood sugar's rise and fall.
Just some blowhard talking here.

Sounds like reflux osophoghitis (sp?) basically the valve at the top of your stomach is too relaxed and when you over eat or eat very rich food or very fizzy soda's then it sort of leaks up the gullet.....causes nausea and in some cases extreme pain - very nasty.
Low fat diet and reduced alcohol, more roughage, losing weight if overweight fixes it.
