Title: For all the 60s grandfathers out there
Post by: Yeager on January 17, 2004, 12:33:38 AM
A John Lennon song.

Lennon explained the idea for the song as follows. Mia and Prudence Farrow travelled to Boston to study with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi at some point in 1968. There was concern that Prudence was staying in her room meditating/studying excessively and Lennon was selected to visit her and encourage her to come out more. Hence Dear Prudence, won't you come out to play, Dear Prudence, greet the brand new day.
The Beatles recording was recorded in August 1968.

Here ya go ya hippies!

============================================

Dear Prudence, Won't You Come Out And Play ? Dear Prudence Meet The Brand New Day
The Sun Is Up, The Sky Is Blue, It's Beautiful and So Are You
Dear Prudence, Won't You Come Out And Play?

Dear Prudence, Open Your Eyes. Dear Prudence, Greet The Sunny Sky
The Sky Is Blue, The Birds Will Sing, That You Are Part Of Everything
Dear Prudence, Open Your Eyes. Look Around, 'Round, 'Round

Dear Prudence, Let Me See You Smile. Dear Prudence, Like A Little Child
The Clouds Will Be A Daisy-Chain So Let Me See You Smile Again
Dear Prudence,Won't You Let Me See You Smile? Look Around, 'Round,' Round

=============================================
Why is it that no person or group since then has been able to
perform with such imagination, such skill, such natural interpretation since 1970.

The beatles...John, Paul, George and Ringo occupied a disticntly unique time in space and time matched by no other in modern entertainment since.

beatles are great

nothing beats driving the 69 bug listening to a mp3 of their greatest on a great weather day like today - high 70/low humidity - slight breeze/blue sky...

TM is good to, though commericalized for the masses .. all you realy need is to follow ur breath & still ur mind...

Best song on that album (the White album) in my opinion.

A great Beatles tune that's not been played into the ground.

Funny, I didn't care for the beatles when they first appeared.

But about the time they broke up I discovered there was some good stuff in there.

The older I get the more I appreciate them.  :)

White Album has tons of gems on it, some of my very favorite are:"

Dear Prudence
While MY Guitar Gently Weeps
Julia
I'm So Tired
Happiness Is A Warm Gun
Mother Natures Son
Helter Skelter
Everybody's Got Something To Hide Exept For Me And MY Monkey

Overall, the White Album is a good album to listen to straight through, like on a long drive.....as it's a double album. Many good songs on it that you wont often here on the radio.

Richard Starkey wrote this one
====

I Listen for your footsteps coming up the drive
Listen for your footsteps but they don't arrive
Waiting for your knock dear on my old front door
I don't hear it Does it mean you don't love me any more

I Hear the clock a ticking on the mantel shelf
See the hands a moving but I'm by myself
I wonder where you are tonight and why I'm by myself
I don't see you Does it mean you don't love me any more

Don't pass me by don't make me cry don't make me blue
'Cause you know darling I love only you
You'll never know it hurt me so
How I hate to see you go
Don't pass me by Don't make me cry

I'm Sorry that I doubted you I was so unfair
You were in a car crash and you lost your hair
You said that you would be late about an hour or two
I said that's alright I'm waiting here
just waiting to hear from you

Don't pass me by don't make me cry don't make me blue
'Cause you know darling I love only you
You'll never know it hurt me so
How I hate to see you go
Don't pass me by Don't make me cry
