Title: Initialization failed
Post by: sonar732 on January 18, 2004, 02:26:16 PM
Hello,

I attempted to start AH today and got the error,

initialization failed-5
main SN_failed-2

What happened since I've been playing for a while now?

That indicates a sound card initilization failure.  Normally, this error is associated with using an older version of DirectX.

Try running DXDIAG and run the Sound diagnostics (Start->Run->DXDIAG) to see if DirectX can provide more information as to why the sound card is not initializing.

Thanks once again Skuzzy!  I looked at the sound card and it slipped out of the PCI slot just enough to run into problems.  I was wondering if my wife turned down the sound to my speakers...:lol
