Okay, I tried using old skin files from AH1 (in this case, my old SpitV trop colors) to display in AH2.
I am well aware of the format differences, so I converted them into indexed colors, saved in 1024x1024x256mb file BMP.
Created a "Spit51" folder, placed in a "Spit5.txt" for description, and placed the converted "SPIT5SD.bmp" and "SPIT5WNG.bmp" file into that folder. (I notice the file names are the same as AH1..)
..
Now, is there something else I must do?
Because, when I get AH2 running and go to the hangar screen, I can see the new skin name in the Skin dropbox. I can select it, but nothing is happening.
It'd be actually relieving if the skins were causing crashes - that usually meant the skin color format was wrong in AH1. But I can see the new skin up, select it, but nothing.
Need some advice! :)

Making skins looks heck of complicated, so ill leave that up to all you pros, hope to see some good stuff!:D

Same problem. I made a "test" red c47 with test written all over it in the cockpit (did it just to see if I could get it working) but it didn't appear in the actual gameplay...just the same ol c47.

Kweassa: Found the bug, as a work around until next patch
make a file called SPIT5SD.htx for each bmp. If that files exsit it will then load the spit5sd.bmp

Okay, so as a test I am modifying the "no hand hold" on the p51-with photoshop I have been giving it some leathery-looking effects and such. Anyway, so in the p51d1 file I have p51d.txt and K14SITE which is a bmp file. Okay...so now how do I create an html extension (.htx) file, and what do I put in it?
I have only done a few skins for FPS game; so bear with me here.

Hmm, still not working.
In the working directory "\aces high II\skins\109g101" I created "109G10.htx" and "109G102.htx" from the 256-color modified .bmp.
The program crashed the first time I tried loading the skin in AH2. I found that one of the modified .bmp's was 3.00MB and not in 256 color mode.
I changed it back to 256 (1.00MB now), re-created the ".htx" files. Ingame, nothing happens... not even a 'studder' when loading a new texture.

OK! Got the P51D to work using HT's method.
I noticed one thing though. After creating the "p51d1" folder, I edited the P51DSID.bmp again to show a big red "TEST" (see below), but, after saving the REmodified bitmap in "p51d1" folder, AH2 still loaded the first modification (original). That file didnt exist anymore, I had overwritten it.

hehe. I forgot to mention this was made in less than 30 seconds :D
The original 109g10 looks much much better... if I can get it to work :)
[edit]: Victory. Just a slight color change from the original. Not historical.

WooooHoooo Kweassa!!! :)
Looking great!! :)

Do you mean that we rename the SPIT5SD.bmp to SPIT5SD.htx, or that we create an entirely new (text?) file with the suffix .htx??
Fidd
