No, no, no, this is not about the current trend of flaming each other on this board :D
Since I bought my scooter last August I have wanted to add some flames on the tank. The idea of spending hundreds of dollars on a custom paint job didn't appeal to me either. I found a site, Cyclegraphics.com (http://www.cyclegraphics.com) , that peaked my interest. Here was an opportunity to add some flames without the expense of a custom paint job.
Well...here are the results:

Yes they are made of vinyl. But they are still flames regardless of what they are made of :D
-
Nice Mark.
BTW Mark, man.......you need to rake them leaves up.;)
-
Well Monk,
You know how life is full of choices? I made mine...I played with my scooter instead of raking leaves :D

For the love of God man, TAKE THE WINDSHIELD OFF THE HARLEY!
-
I agree that the windsheild doesn't make the scooter look any better, actually looks nicer without it, but...I ride in near freezing weather at times plus it keeps the bugs out of my teeth :D
-
hehe you know what flag that is?, wouldent think yall could get away with it there, is it recognized for what it is or just a cool symbol?
-
Mark, that scooter is unlocked.
MiniD will be along shortly to chastise you.
:D

Yes I know what the flag is, however here it's just a flag, people here are more open (for the most part) and do not care about that crap!
Cheers

Well since it's a symbol of States' rights, it's particularly applicable in EU land.
-
Mark dam nice bike there:aok
-
Thank you Mrblack :)
Heater, I like that flag too, not too swift on the skull and crossbones but to each his own. Since it would be veryVERY unPC to use one here I probably never will. I don't see it (the flag) as representing repression to any race, I just like the fact that it was used by the South. There are those (a lot of those) that would be insulted by it here so I would refrain from ever using it.
I can see it being used in Europe without the reprocussions though.
-
Well done. :aok

Heater: Yes I know what the flag is, however here it's just a flag, people here are more open (for the most part) and do not care about that crap!
It sounds like you do not know what that flag is.
It's not crap. It's a battle flag under which americans stood to fight for freedom and self-determination for the second and last time. And lost, of course.

I have a cruiser too, but it's a Honda and I need to buy a windscreen.
It's tough going on a long ride w/o a windscreen.
b.t.w. my Honda is a V-twin 1800.

Mark, B.T.W. nice bike and cool flames

The north and the south were both in a sense fighting for freedom. The north fought to preserve the union, and a distant second (or third or twentieth) to free slaves. The south fought to defend a state's right to withdraw from the Union that they had voluntarily joined - freedom for a state to govern itself and not be subordinate to the Federal government on matters not defined in the Constitution. That whole representation thing that a bunch of guys four score and seven years before had also fought a war for, remember?
Both were right, but the North had the might to beat the south into submission and write the history books its way.

Miko, you really like to stir the pot doncha? :D

Dam thats so hot, its like insane.
:D

NUKE: miko, sorry....but you seem to be ignorant of many things, master of none.
You really think only ignorance can cause people to have an opinion different from yours?
Perhapse you don't realise that the north was fighting for freedom?
Southerners had no plans to enslave and rule the Northern states. They only wanted to be left alone - just like the 13 Colonies did not threaten the British freedom but wanted to be left alone in 1776.
Heater: what your point?
You said "I know what the flag is" but also "and do not care about that crap!". Since it is very unusual for the people to refer to struggle for freedom and self-determination as "crap", I though you really did not know what the so called American "Civil War" was about and offered you some knowlege for free.
Nothing more.

So who's that?
All I keep coming up with is Jesus H. Christ. :)

Right - that notable proponent of the right to bear arms! :)
Luke 22:35-36:
"And he said unto them, when I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, lacked ye anything? And they said, Nothing. Then he said unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip, and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one."

Learn something new every day. :)

Miko Quoted:
...let him sell his garment...
Sounds more like the right to bare arms to me...
(sorry, that was truly awful but I couldn't resist)

I know it's kinda small, but what's the difference between this scooter and a full on motorcycle?
-
The Confederate Battle Flag is not a biker "rebel flag". It is much more than that. Ask some of the people who died for it. Oh, the flames fit, get rid of the windshield, no matter how cold it gets.

I'm not real sure what your definition of a "full on motorcycle" is. This is a Harley-Davidson Super Glide. It is basically an enlarged version of a Sportster. They, the Sportster and the Super Glide, share the same forks but the Super Glide has the bigger 88 cubic inch engine (1450 cc vrs. 883 or 1200 cc) and it is rubber mounted to reduce felt vibration (as of 2004 the Sportsters get rubber mounted engines too). The frame is larger as is the tank and seat. Naturally the Super Glide is heavier also. The engine and transmission are separate parts on the larger scooters whereas the engine and transmission are fitted into the same case on the Sportsters.
The largest scooters made by Harley-Davidson of course are the touring models, they have a little longer wheel base, less than 2" longer than this one, and generally include saddle bags and some have fairings. The engine/transmission combo is the same as on mine with the addition of fuel injection being an option.
There may be a bit of misunderstanding here on the term "scooter". "Scooter" or "Scoot" is a term of endearment used by a lot of Harley riders for their motorcycles. "Bike" is used around these parts a lot too when speaking of motorcycles and I don't think they mistake that for bycicle.
I hope this answers your question :)

I tell you what Thorns, I'll let you ride without the windsheild on your scooter, I'll keep mine on thank you :). At 57 years of age the 'ole bod is not as tolerant as it once was.

Nice bike Mark like the flames:) .
The wife would like me to get a bike (crusier style) like that, so I could drive her around, as she is not so keen to sit on the back of the bike I got, thats why I dont get one:aok .
Heater great paint work.

Nice bike Mark. If I knew how to post I would show a picture of the troublehead I had in the early 70's. I had a $2.00 krylon flame paint job on the 3 1/2 gallon fatbobs. At the time, everyone told me that flames were outrageous and that I would be pulled over every time I rode (big deal... they did anyway). I even got em on my arm and really upset some folks.
How... people have em on their toolboxes and lunchboxes and 14 year old girls have flame sleve tats.

I figured it was something to that effect. Thanks Mark:)

That's cool Creamo :), they are vinyl decals that come off easily. When you buy the scooter from me I can take 'em off ;)
