that thing is nice man, Gotta question for you, how did you not paint over the meatal seams, or did you just make new ones?

the way I did it was to first change the bitmap to a jpeg.  then you make a new layer over the image and set it to whatever transparency you feel is appropriate for what your doing, then simply fill the new layer with the color you want and save it as a 256 color bitmap.

I have to admit that you guys can do a heck of a lot better than me.  I couldn't draw new panels and such.  When I color, I just go over the panels, and of couse parts of the plane end up being a solid color. Do you guys have any art background?

Revgst, what are you using?

with a real photoshop program (not ms paint) you can adjust the hue/saturation/lightness and gamma of something which basically changes the color.

That is how I made the wings for the pony I made...he didn't use a paintbrush or anything, just adjusted the hue/saturation/lightness or gamma.

okay, that is good.  forget which it is under, but the menu at the top with file, edit, image, all that stuff, under one of the menus there are options to adjust gamma, color. or hue/saturation lightness. Experiment with these.

At the top of the 'hanger' list on the notepad, there is a dropdown menu which should say 'default', scroll down the list to see your other skins.

You probably didn't save it as an 8-bit (256 color) file.  To do this in Adobe, go to the colors tab at the top, and scroll down to where it says 'decrease colors', set it to 256 colors.  Also make sure you save it as a .bmp file, with the same name the file had originally.

what reaper said-

I got very frusterated in the beginning when my skin wouldn't open.

I am using serif-if you are, go to export optimizer and choose "8-bit"

Which does everyone prefer for template setups.  Rivets and panel lines together or seperated?  I'm working on a setup now to get all panel lines and rivets inplace per the original AH2 drawings.  I may look for original panel and rivets setups but for right now just doing the basics.

Also are you all setting up alpha selections for each individual object in PSP for ease of use?  That way folks can just load that alpha selection and start painting with ease.  I'm using the point to point smart selection option in PSP 7 to make these alpha selections now.

I originally didnt bother with paneling. I decided to give it a shot, and I decided that wherever I am going to pint over a panel line, I paint it whit for the time being, and then place my color all around it.  Then to get e descent panel look, I use a lighter and darker shade of the color near the panels.  Its the only way I know how to do it.

Well I've duplicated all the rivets and panel lines much like mipoikel did.  The lines in there current state are hard to paint around so I figured we could paint under or over them.  If painting over them then you could just change the paints transperancy so that the lines and rivets show up as much as you'd like.

Plus with the multiple layered template you can adjust each area quickly and easily without having to disrupt anything else.  If we had templates for each aircraft in this manner then people could spend more time on getting the paint and weathering affects down than screwing around with the the panel lines and rivets for each one over and over again.

I usually don't paint over anything.

If I want to change the color, I adjust the gamme or hue/saturation/lightness.

Maybe sometimes I will adjust certain sections, and maybe I use cloning tools to go over a part I don't want.

convert the bmp to rgb and edit in photoshop. here you can add layers -  one for panel lines, one for rivets, one for screws, one for camo, on for insignias, and even more layers for wethering - paint chips, fluid spills, ect...

then you can blend them to your liking.

Well, like I said, the easiest way I know to keep the original seems on the wing is to make a new layer and set it's transparency to 50% (that's what I use, but you can use whatever transparency you wish), then you can paint whatever you want on the wing without blotting out the seems.

How do you take such nice screenshots?  The only way I know to adjust the camera to my liking is to go to outside view and hit F8 for the freecam, but it's hard to get close to the plane that way and difficult to line up the shot.

Sure. 190D91.zip (http://www.savanne.org/ah/190d91.zip)

Extract it to AH2 skins folder and voila...

ty.  now can you give me idiot proof steps for installing it :o

Unzip the file 190d91.zip

you get a folder named 190d91. You must put that folder to

C:\\Program Files\HTC\Aces High II\skins <---- here

Then start AHII , go to hangar, Select 190D9 and using skin dropmenu select 190d91.

Should work??

Im not english native so my explanation may be hmm...  not very good. Sorry. :aok

Oh yes. You can really tell how the skinning lovers have been tormented and denied their most intimate lusts and desires for a such a long time. :D Practically with the introduction of Beta11 they all burst into a frenized orgy! :D
