Just wondering where you consider your favorite place to visit. Maybe it's your back yard, or maybe it's someplace exotic.
One of my favorite domestic spots in the US is on Colorado Rte 24, nw of Colorado Springs, just as you pass the top of the high pass heading northwest (bout 12000 feet), before daylight. Find a nice spot to pull off up there, and sit and watch the sun rise on the mountains on the far side of the high plain. Amazing sight to behold!
For sheer fun, I like the Cayman's, Belieze, and Bimini in that order.
For simple pleasures and ambiance nothing like a cafe in the south of France in the summer!
So, what are your favorite spots?
-
Toscana, or Tuscany for some.
Maybe buy a house there..........who knows, but needs to be near a golf course.

I have several answers but they would all get me banned.

Probably Irvine Park in the spring, during the week (when no one is there), with a good book.
they have a nice little zoo, horseback riding and a quiet little pond to read by..

If not that, then I'd have to say in the conservatory with a hammer.

but I still have hope one tries ;)

Point Sublime, North Rim of the Grand Canyon
5th St. in Austin, Tx.

Hijackers, It's a restaurant there with kickass wings.
You should stop by there, my folks live around the corner, and we go to hijackers. You have to get the extra hot sauce. They are located next to a windsock and the FBO.
I can't wait till I get my PP ticket and start my 100$ burger runs...
Next time I'm down in FL, I'll PM you, who knows maybe you stop in by X47 once again..

Camp Seagull, North Carolina.
Too bad some of the people there aren't my favorite people. Not even close.

There's a spot in Esslingen, Germany that I'd have to say is the one spot I must see again someday. There's a bridge that goes across a medium-ish river, and the bridge is lined with old Bavarian-style houses, built right on the bridge. The river is lined with willow trees that drape their branches out across the river. I stumbled upon it one night while wandering drunk around the town. Words just don't do it justice.

I like my bed pretty good.

Hum, favorite vacation spot. Anywhere its hot with babes.

Negril beach(Jamaica)..With a cooler full of cold Red Stripe mon.

As exotic as my own home state.
Pier House Resort in Key West (http://www.pierhouse.com/index.shtml)
Nothing like a private beach away from the rabble, clear blue water, in the heart of the Key West action, great rooms. This is the "Live Like Hemingway" suite.
The only downside is Sunday afternoon traffic off the island is a pain. Everybody leaves at the same time to go back home.
-
Been there Gofaster, what a fun time that is.... although a bit on the pricey side... no more so than the Cliff house (in the summer) here in nearby Manitou Springs though

Yeah, its pricey, which is why I only go there every 10 years or so. For the same money, I can spend a week in Charleston, South Carolina (which I've done twice now and am looking forward to going again). Key West is quickly becoming an expensive place to visit so I may have to find a different beach shack city to hang out at. I'm thinking Daytona Beach has potential, but they cut down all the trees and put up high-rise hotels.

Regards,
The medium is just your standard cayanne vinger based sauce. The xtra hot (bearable, not a daves insanity sauce hot) is outstanding, it's a cumin, salt, pepper, habenaro and a bunch of other stuff. I'll probably be heading down there in a few weeks before my wife gets her orders, that way I can register the vechiles in FL for tax reasons...
Last time I was at X47, met a guy with a Lake Amphibian, and there was a V-tail bonanzai gathering I missed by a day or so... Saw 4 V35's lined up abosolutely beautiful...
Crappy pic of My Friends' bonanzai and me:

Big Sur, Heaven on Earth IMHO.

Closer to home, this area used to be called the "Badlands". If you've ever seen the movie "Tell them Willie Boy is Here" it was filmed here and based on a true story that occurred in the area. It basically is my backyard (less than 2 miles down the street.) My buddy and I like it there.

Where were you camping? Not enough planes there to be oshkosh :)
That's a 182, right? (basing it on the shape of the cowling)
What year?

Tip top of the high mountain on the NW side of Eagle River Valley in Alaska. I used to climb it at least once during the summer when I was a kid. The spot where the survey pin is imbeded in the rock is probably the most peacefull place I've found and you can see so far up the valley you can almost see the glacier. Plus the Nike missle site across the valley on the higher mountain top is cool to look at... or was 30 years ago.

St. Tomas and St. John in the U.S. virgin islands. Going back for a WHOLE week!!! :p

Ding its a 1969 Reims Rocket (think 172xp) with a bunch of aftermarket stuff on it (aux fuel, STOL kit, auto pilot, etc)

Can also be compared to T-41D

We were at SunNFun last year, next to VOR at KLAL so all the other AC were to the south (pic is facing north) and the displays are to the west of us.

Very nice aircraft you got yourself there, I'm jealous. I've heard of the T-41's and FT. George Meade Aeroclub has a couple. Once I finish my training at quantico AC, I'll be heading over there just fly one :)
I've been eyeing a Maule, probably several years down the road though...

Shepherdstown West Virginia-
Historic Shepherdstown is the Oldest Town in West Virginia, Founded in 1762 by mostly German Settlers. I believe it was George Washington who wanted Shepherdstown to be our Nation's Capital before Washington DC was chosen.
Nestled along the Potomac River Historic Shepherdstown, is only a few miles from Antietem Battlefield in Maryland and Historic Harpers Ferry is to the South where the Shenendoah meets the Potomac.
I moved there in 1991 and lived there until 1999. It's home to Shepherd College, and Main Street (was German Street until WW1) is filled with Bars and knick knack shops.
I go back every couple months, and hang out with friends and such. And I plan on moving back there and working in Washington DC as soon as I can save up some cash and get my foot in the door somewhere.

Heres mine.. Taken at Deal Gap on the NC/Tenn boarder its 11miles and 318 turns..

Ding Bat you finally coming down to Fla?? We'll have to meet up bud!

Off of Cabo San Lucas on a boat with a fishing pole in my hand with either a marlin, tuna or Dorado on the other end. That would be followed up by taking my tuna steaks to a local resturant and having them sere it with a nice soy/wasabe sauce to dip it in while the sun is setting on the Gulf of California.

The last time I was down there fishing, I caught two nice yellow fin tuna. One was 40 lbs. and the other was 50 lbs. The guys cut me a little chunk off the carcass and I ate it raw. Now that's fresh tuna!

Shamus, go hang on little cayman for a week, it is just like before the rush in most instances!

Baden, Germany (just about the entire region).
Berchtesgaden, Germany
Gruyere, Switzerland
Ottawa, Canada (guess I lucked out that way).
-
Bodhi, still less than 100 folk live there full time?
Hell Bob Soto couldnt even give away a charter to that Island in the olden days :)
shamus
ps: you are probably right bud, think the 'Big Island"
-
Yeah, Shamus, there are few on the island, but the diving is awesome, and the women were gorgeous every time I went.
Nothing like diving, partying, meeting hot chickie, going to deserted beach, getting down on said beach, having buddies interupt you by pouring some alcoholic beverage over the two of you engaged in said activity, being so lit, not caring and continuing, waking up to pictures of said activity being placed on your cars and windows for the next 6 years..... priceless!
