Quote by Pyro:"...the PT boats work like any other plane or vehicle. We're making a late-model 80' Elco. This will be one of the heaviest armed vehicles in the game with 4 .50 cal machine-guns, a 20mm cannon, a 37mm cannon, a 40mm cannon, 16 five-inch rockets, and 4 torpedos. Speed is around 45 mph.

Great, and Ostwind of the seas. Shall we start whining now, or wait 'til it actually arrives?

"...or wait 'til it actually arrives?"
Wouldn't that be unusual and breaking with tradition? (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

I wouldn't get excited about the PT firepower- it's not like it can capture a base or anything. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)
-
...in addition its main function may be swarming destroyers, attacking carriers, raiding tankers, and coastal installations. It shouldn't be anything Ostwinds can't handle, though I would be wary of them in an aircraft...
-
it had just better not be a perfectly stable platform as if it were on solid ground..

If it did that it would have to be cut in half every mission by a destroyer. Kinda put a crimp in it's effectiveness. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

They were made of wood, right?
Wanna bet they got harder hulls than a battleship?
So much for rescuing Mac from Corregidor with 6 50 cals.
I am whining early, gotta beat the rush ya know.

When did they put this thing in here and WTF is it for?

Laminated plywood hulls. Lotsa firepower; fast and dangerous as hell if yer a Japanese Barge skipper skulking along a coastline at night. But in broad daylight a sharp fighter pilot with a pal and both well versed in taking osty's down on the fly will put his bellybutton right up on the beach. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
Be glad they decided on a US PT.. and not a German E Boat. that thing would scare the hell outta me. Similar firepower; faster, and a fargin steel hull.

No small boat should be out in the daytime when fighters are around. E boats were better but a steel hull full of holes was worse than a wooden one full of holes.

Are the torpedoes going to be PHOTON torpedoes so you can use them against aircraft? Or is the 37mm going to be "good enough" as an AA gun?
(couldn't resist...IMO the PT will be roughly...er...8 times more fun than a land vehicle--although the Rat Patrol jeep is a bit overdue)

More Yank iron/wood? Whats wrong with a British MTB? (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif) j/k
