Title: Reason for death message???
Post by: 2stony on January 27, 2004, 12:18:20 PM
Last night we were attacking an nme VH. The first time, after I dropped my eggs on the GVs, I landed my A-20 South of that base and got a "landing sucessful" message. I re-upped at my base again in a Ju-87. After dropping the "ubber egg" on a tank(which I killed), I landed in the same place as the A-20 and got a "you've been killed by" message. WTF is up with that. I would have figured the worst I'd get would be a "you've been captured" message. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

If the field wasn't friendly, then I dont think you should have had the first "successfull landing" message.

Are you sure the field didn't switch between the first time you landed and the second?

No, the field was in nme hands the whole time. I think you're right on the first landing and that I should have gotten a "captured" on that one. But why the "death" message on the second if I didn't get shot down or anything?

Without a film, there's really nothing anyone can say.

I did film it, but all it's going to tell you is that I was shot down after I clicked tower. I did not film the first time however.  My point is that I shouldn't have gotten a "shot down" message if I didn't crash, get shot down, etc.

in my time i have found that landing near a friendly base will give you eather a "landed seccsessfily" or a "ditch" but if near an nme base or on one you will get a "you have been captured" but if there is a nme plane or gv close enough even if you never took a shot it may give them the kill. For example i was in a c47 parked near a base waiting for the ok when i see an la7 headed in to kill me. i figured i would just ditch insted of giving him the kill and without him ever firing a shot i hit tower on the clipboard and it gave him the kill anyway.

Send the film to HTC, they could probably explain it.

If there is an enemy within about 2k when you go to ditch in enemy territory (which is any territory closer to an enemy field than yours), that guy will get a kill on you if you .ef.

If you've been shot and the guy that shot you is still up, he'll get a kill on you if you ditch in enemy territory.

I took no hits at all(I don't think anyone even shot at me) and I was out of icon range of any enemies.

Punt!
