Title: Old Air-warrior "skinmeister" needs help
Post by: Fidd on January 27, 2004, 04:33:39 PM
I thought I'd have a crack at a few Spit 5's. The skinning is going well, but I seem utterly unable to view the skins, despite having followed, I believe, Hitechs instructions to the letter.

Here's the state of play so far:

I went ingame and went offline/hangar/spitV (selected) then right-clicked and saved skin. Chose the .bmps I wished to edit, did them then saved them to a new directory called "spit51" which is at the same level as the initial export directory "spit5".

From within the hangar I can select "spit51" from the skins drop-down menu, but neither single-click select, not highlighting, nor doubleclicking seems to actually select the skin as viewable on the spit V within the game. I have tried various permutations of moving the "spit51" directory to different levels of the path, no joy.

I am now completely stuck, help welcome!

Incidentally, I have loads of old skins from Air-warrior still on file, but in the high resolution format I used to work on them. I have rechecked the image properties of the .bmp I am attempting to view, and its 1024 pixels square, and 256 colours.

correction,

i did try to  to crate skin for spit 5

and

in hangar save skin

go to bitmap editor, open spit5sd.bmp and spit5wng.bmp

you should have c:\program....\HTC\AH2\skins
there should be AH2\spit5 folder
create subdirectory in skins folder
AH2\skins\spit51
save yor bitmaps there

and should works ( i chk it minute ago)

Notice: to have many varous skins for one plane you should number them one by one

for example
spit5
spit51
spit52
spit53

if you have
spit5
spit52
spit53

AH2 will not recognize your skin (not visible in menu)
SO make sure you number them correct

One more. AH2\cache  directory are stored files to speed up lload in to game. If you see something bad happend to your skin. Or skin is not refreshing after you edit it. Go there and delete directory your plane skin subdirectory (not all cache folder)

I have done exactly as you suggested, except the directory is C: Program files ....AH2/Skins/Spit51. not ...AH2/Spit51 as you typed.

Still doesn't work. Nothing in the cache looks remotely like a spitfire filename.

Still stuck!

ad missspelling

of course AH2\skins\spit51

all skins are stored in ah2\skins

Q1: do you have ah2\skins\spit5 directory too?
Q2: DO you chose in hangar your own skin?
click on spitV in hangar , then in top table menu change from default to spit51?

Are you updated to patch 12? I just tried a test spit 5 and it worked.

des

Forgot to ask, did you include a text file in the spit51 directory?

Thankyou sir, that indeed was the problem, it didn't occur to me there was a new beta as I first installed it 2-3 days ago I think.

Cheers.

Im having the same problem. Haven't tried the cache fix. I have text and spit91 and while it appears in the hangar.. It doesn't appear on the runway. :(

Off to try the cache fix.

Hi Fidd,
Could you send me an e-mail? I have a couple of things to ask you.

Thanks. :)
