i know a buddy that have just started playing and im trying to train him and hes geting better but he does not do well in the spitfire because of the cannons and he loves the 50 cals on the US planes
so i told him to fly hellcat
what do you all think is a good plane for new comers that uses 50 cals as there main weapon
im thinking the hellcat is good
while the P51D seems good for learning the boom zoom but he needs a good knife fighter and the P51 just can not do that well
-
P-51 can do many things if flown right...
But anyways, i agree, F6F is a good plane with 6x 50 cals.. It inflicts major pain within 400 yards, and is easy enough to be flown for a rookie within the game.
-
f6f or fm2
eskimo
-
Today i took up an F4F-4... 6x50s of the most OBBER kind... Its a nice little turner, has no WEP, is pretty dang slow but is fun to fly over all... Should try it out...
-
try the FM2 its much faster and does have wep
the 4 50cals is good for the plane i mean most of the planes you well be fighting well be other slow planes that are weak armor and this gives you a long tracking shot 2
-
The P-51b is actually a simple plane to fly alot more forgiving then the D model , theres also the F4F,F6F ,
-
the P38, it even has a 20mm cannon. :D

FM-2
Why? It's too slow to run, so they'll have to learn to fight. But, few fighters can knife fight like the FM-2. Rear visibility is awful, so they will have to learn SA quickly too. As most should understand, the little Wildcat with a little E is a lot of trouble.
My regards,
Widewing

Without a doubt the best gun platform to learn on is the F6F.
-
Try some F4Us
F4U(-1, -1D, -4) with 50cals
F4U(-1C) with 20mm (Many people love this plane cuz of vulch) :D
-
190A8 is the best plane to learn on by far. Can't turn, can't out run most planes that are common in the MA, ballistics suck, climbs like a rock and flies like a brick.
Ya gotta love it:D
-
P51b is a good choice. It's fast and can react better then the D.
-
F6F......Why do you think i fly it? (noob) :D
-
P-40 in any variation is also a hoot
YUCCA and I had a nice run the other night... It was a blast!
-
i think everbody know's that the F4U is a very hard plane to fly for a newcomer
it ground loops and the stalls are killers and is very hard to land
it needs a pliot that uses boom zoom and knows how to use the roll rate in sticky spots
and the FM2 seems kind of slow but its alright
and the P40 needs a pliot that know's how to use flaps and trim in the right spots and good aim because of the short ammo for that kind of setup
the F6F reminds me of a US spitifre only the F6F is stronger and better gun setup
-
sims - I think the F6F was a good suggestion. And then encourage your friend to learn the F4U-1D, which I think is a better gun platform than the F6F and most other planes.
Of course, the F4U1D is not for turnfighting against Spits, N1Ks and La7.
But for survivability, there's the EasyMode™ P51. :p

FYI....spit9 still has .50cals......500 rounds of em....and you can pretty much turn turn turn inside almost any plane
tell em to learn ACM before giving 2000 rounds of SPRAYING ammo

I know something which turns worse than a8, can't our run anything, has terrible ballistics and do not climb at all. It is a real brick, at least by a shape.
It is a tower. :)

2 .50's on a plane don't really mean anything. It's the damage over time that matters. I.E quick burst of the spit's .50's will be a 4 round hit or so.
Quick burst from a Thunderbolt will be a 20 round hit...

see here young jedi....
spit will turn inside your 8 .50cals.....
my suggestion was to learn ACM before giving a NOOB alot of spraying ammo....
-
Slow's right...besides if you can't hit with hizookas you've got problems...As for a first plane to start out with, i'd suggest the P-38, just because its a really stable platform to learn how to shoot with.

It also has center line guns which means concentrated fire power and not worrying about convergence. Even without the 20mm, the quad .50s on the P-38 are extremely deadly.
Unfortunately, while it might be a stable gun platform, the plane is less forgiving to those not familiar with it and make shooting more difficult than it has to be.
ack-ack

Yep. Take alt, dive thru huge furball, press trigger and keep it there.... and keep also your eyes closed. Dont turn... continue speeding to nearest friendly field and land your 8 kills. :D

Try the 202. I was flying it for a month after I signed up. (I could not figure out why I was only getting assists and dieing so often) Didn't know any better :D. Let hime have some fun. Use something with cannons
-
FM2...........
he will kill a lot and die alot and get loads of assists..............
