Ok the top one comes from one of my books (Flying Colours, ISBN 80-7237-438-9, William Green and Gordon Swanborough) and the bottom shot is from AH. Judging from the tail-number, fuselage markings, noseart and the banner with the kill-marks, I would say that both images show the same machine. Yet they differ. The one in AH is missing the white rudder strip and the white prop-cone tip.
Is this intentional?

And the parrot is black instead of blue!!

ahhh well... just re-make this camo yourself :) And if HTC likes it, he will make it available for us in the arena :D

:rofl yeah.... If you want something done, do it yourself point of view... :aok
But wait! You are saying it to me!
;)

OK... fiddled a bit with it...
Removed 1 strip of the checkerboard, made the sippner tip white, included the white rudder strip and reworked the rudder numbering to reflect the font used those days a bit more precisely...
Only the black parrot remained but I guess that one will get replaced by a "personal" noseart in the online full version - if the noseart convention remains in the AH2 that is...
All in all, this looks a bit more "true-to-life" so to speak (or historicaly correct if you prefer) to me ;)

since your being picky the red DOT behind the **** pit is too far back!
Just trying to help
-
hehe :D every little bit helps I guess... but not only the "red dot" is from the original paintjob but more-less coresponds to the dot on the photo...
Of course changing it's position is a matter of few clicks and tablet smears... Just gimme some pictures I can use to see where it is supposed to be and I will make it done... ;)

Just look at the photo you posted to use for comparison. If we are getting picky here the panel lines aren't properly spaced hence why the red dot seems too far back.
And without seeing another good depiction of the panel lines themselves it's hard to tell who's correct, AH or the painter. It'd be nice if there was somewhere we could get technical drawings for all these birds to ensure proper panel lines and rivet lines.

Well.. Got a 1/72 scale model in my display case. It is not exactly the camo as above but the other one I'm working on for the 51B although it is still green :D And on the model the position of the red "dot" visually coresponds to the position on the AH's camo...
But sure, I'm the last one trying to prevent you making the camo right. ;)
But if you will try to make this camo really "right" then you hit the wall created by the impossibility of making asymetric wing camo for P-51, so you can't add in "NO STEP" marks that are on the left wing only etc.

the online filter is a little too friggin' picky if it *'s out

remember mostly all profiles base on black&white photos
so any autor can see that diferent
sometimes strips and other details are invisible on picture
sometimes profile have his own author invention ;-)
