Title: Lazs Fightertown.
Post by: Urchin on December 08, 2001, 06:53:00 PM
A night like tonight, I would have gladly flew out of a "Fightertown" instead of attempting to find a fight from a regular airfield.

100 or so on each team, Rook and Knight decided it would be cool to team up.

It was literally impossible to find even a 2 on 1 fight.  Died in a 10 or 15 on 1 (which was sort of my stupidity, I went on a long AFK climbout helping my mother with something).  Died in a 4 or 5 on 1.  Died in a 3 on 1 after getting 2... I rammed the last guy in a HO.  Etc Etc.  I'd back a fightertown 210%.

I realize that these massive gangrapes are all part of the MA 'fun'... except they aren't fun.  I assume they arent even fun for the love muffines who chase 1 guy around with 12 buddies, but I could be wrong there.  It sure as toejam ain't fun for the 1 guy who takes off and then spends all his time running like hell from multiple enemies.

Response 1 " D00d... j00 sux0rs.  g0 t0 dA du3ling ar3na. "

My response to response 1.  There is no point in going to the DA.  There is already a "fightertown" set up there, and it is deserted.  It isnt deserted because furballing isnt fun- it is deserted because even getting chain-assraped by 200 people is more fun that flying by yourself in an empty arena (see also "why the HA (CT) failed").

Anyway, I vented my frustration, flame away.

Urchin, didn't I tell ya before that all these so-called "noble furballers" are interested in is man-on-man gangbanging action?

What Urchin said.

Can we turn KS off in the DA?

Erlkonig...that sounded sick
   man on man gangbanging..noble or not..that just sounded sick

anyways...<S> Urchin   :D   I admit, I'm a strat dweeb or whatever the F people like to call it.  I believe in fighting and winning the war.  I also have been enjoying some good dogfights...not necessarily furballing but just scraping it up in a fighter.

Please note: I still don't like furballing...seems dumb to me...no challenge to flying into a ball of 20 cons, dying, then re-engaging all over again.  That seems more suited to newbies who can't fly or don't understand about stategy

In a fighter I appreciate the ability to think when I engage...fact is that I don't know all the techno-dweeb moves...yo-yo, rope-a-dope, etc are lost on me. I've found out that I have been making some of those moves but not because I'm learned...simply put, through trial and error I'm finding how to move and when.

To the point...I DOenjoy fighter scrapes and possibly (as much as it pains me to agree with laz1) a fighter island isn't all that bad of a suggestion.  Of course it would have stipulations as already have been pointed out...you know, doesn't affect the war, the bases spread suffeciently apart, etc, etc...

Well, there you go...my two (maybe three) cents worth.

Urchin, I have been told that Bishops never complain about odds. I have only played Rook since I re-upped, and this is the first time I have seen Bishops in the hole. That's about six weeks worth of winning, and winning, and winning...

Just your turn, I guess. Not saying it is fun, but it is what happens. FWIW, the reason I went Rooks when I came back was because THEY were getting gangraped so badly.

so is mindanao gone i hope?

Gone, but it will be back shortly.  100 Bish trying to hold off 300 Knights and Rooks on SFMA 10 minutes ago.

SFMA will be gone shortly, then it is what?

Regardless, although I'm sick of Mindano, at least it is a fairly defensible terrain, so whichever side has the least people can hold out for a while against the other two...

LOl, first time Bishops have been really gangbanged in months. Now they've endured what they put Knights and Rooks through on a regular basis  :).
Fun, innit?

Yup, and if Urchin isn't careful he will get kicked out of the "non-complainer" side.  ;)

Hehe.. Bishes were complaining last night, just not on Ch 1.  We don't have any of the really good whiners that let it all hang out like y'all do ;p.

Just having fun with you. Anytime one of the other sides complains like you did, here comes the "Bishops are MEN that don't complain" comment.

It was refreshing to see that, after all, we are all human.

well... nobody likes to die.  nobody likes to be gangbanged and.... while gangbanging itself is not too much fun it still beats the other two.

Furballs aren't gangbanging.  Organization is gangbanging.   Close fields encourage furballing and farther fields or shut down resources encourage gangbanging and timidity.

Why would someone fly for over a sector in a spit or nik when they knew that they could kill 5 guys at the enemy field and still be killed.  no chance to make it home with lags and 51's B&Zing or running em down on the deck before they make it half way home?   No, the farther fields or no dar make people timid.  they don't go farther than they think they can dive for safety.

With close fields and good radar... people see a big fight between a couple of fields with fairly even numbers and jump in.   No one to vulch em cause everyones busy or, at worst, there is so much action that you are not singled out by 5 high 51's or even niks.

If you don't die in the fur but run out of ammo or get hurt you can head home on the deck with little chance of a faster plane (or 6)running you down before you reach a group of friendlies or home.  That is my idea of a fur.

It's all about what you want in a game.   High alt hide and seek with the sky accountants or action packed fun with the noble, manly furballers.   probly we can have both.

Preachin to the choir Urchin. I came from AW and I hardly flew in the MA there unless it was a squad oriented thingy. Fighter Town was my home there for the same reasons. Lotta the better sticks hung out in there too--also for the same reasons. The MA hamster wheel just isn't my speed but here its damned near the only game in town. Spent a few nights in the CT and had some fine fights. Most enjoyable. No gangin in there as there's usually only a few on!

I'd fly in some sorta FT arrangement every night if folks went there. I'm not above gettin clubbed. IMO I still need the fights anyway.

   FT? Twist my arm!

urhin was knight when we were 9 weeks in the bucket we didn't switch to bishops out right we went to rooks because knights numbers had recovered and the rooks were down.

Spent about 2 weeks as rooks are realised most were fediddlein love muffines..........

We flew alot with the 483rd and they had went to bishops so we went there to fly with them at the request of a squaddie.

Anyway to dismiss it as your turn in the bucket, maybe the truth, but this game is flown by real folks who if they chose to do it different it would be.

till then lets keep rotating the bucket...

Urchin, when it gets like that, has been lately for bish, I go into the TA.  Usually someone in there who wants to 1 v 1 and you get some good fights.  If its only newbies, you can always jump in a Ju88 or IL2 to make it fair.

Why would you choose the TA over the DA, Zygote?

I'm curious as to why the DA is so underused.
