Post by: FOGOLD on January 31, 2004, 04:06:15 PM: Sorry if this seems a bit lame. I have been dabbling in Counterstrike, and have managed to join a couple of games. However, I don't know what the "etiquette" is (if any). Do you just go in and join or do i join a team or what? I don't want to piss anyone off!

There must be loads of CS players who play AH too. Any tips?

Just use auto assign so you goto the side with less players. Learn the controls, save cash by not buying weapons and just pick up the deads. Load up on nades and body armor. Dont flash your own team. Play on servers with no awp and with FF off.

Bonus Tips

Call everyone that kills you a cheater (cause they are)

learn to speak 733t

And remember headshots, headshots, headshots.

I havent played in years, but when I stopped, it seemed that to be popular amongst the crowd, all you needed to do was spam l337 sp33k and team kill.

ANyone still playing DoD? Ive been thinking of firing that up, but I havnt done anything with Steam since its release.

Post by: SunKing on February 01, 2004, 06:58:13 PM: I play DOD weekely. Still the best WW2 FPS out there. I fire up RO and Im back to DOD in minutes. Seems they did everything right. Can't wait for the port to HL2 engine.

Post by: Maniac on February 02, 2004, 02:00:45 AM: I play DoD on Swedish servers mainly, 15 ms pings, i never play on servers above 50 ms pings...

Never seen ANY cheating on the Swedish servers and i have been playing for 2+ years.

Be sure to download steam. Its great for finding good servers. You also can have a "friends" list in steam to keep track of who is online... Would be great to set up a friends list for AH players!

Nothing beats an mg34 set up in a destroyed building.

My image above I got 64 kills in about 8 min. I threw away the k43 and grabbed an mg34 from a guy who got killed and beat back the advancing Ami farmbois.

They threw grenades and I picked umm up and threw umm back. Someone primed one and it got me, but only once. I was down to my pistol only near the end having run out of mg ammo. I was pinned behind some sandbags so no one could drop off ammo.

None of umm are real but the level of intense action is awesome on some of the DoD maps. Sometimes you its like you are suffering from post traumatic stress when its over. Sometimes when the music starts in I will hum aloud right with the music. I have played DoD for years and still have a great time.

The graphics are dated but there are hi res mods and custom maps that keep the graphics decent enough. The Sound is good.

Only FPS I play is DoD. I have OFP but online it was never that great, AA was full of hacks, MoH had crappy netcode, Bf 1942 and Wolfenstein were fun for a bout 5 min and CS just pisses me off when some 6 year old with an AWP kills me.

Punk Buster cleaned up the hacks....of course with 2.5 million playing, it's not a perfect world.

You must have played a long time ago.
