I in my spare time like to mess around with making short little movies of missions that the 325th does... I made one for the Hungry set up called Operation Bridge Basher... I am submitting it on here just to get some feedback on how I did... good or bad... I want to thank the 78th for helping out on the mission which went rather smooth.

Thank you.

you have talent. very well done.

Very Nice Stream !!

That is a great film! But couldnt you have let it run about 1 more minute to when I caught up with you guys? ;)
I remember that mission well, the La7 diversion worked perfectly. Deejaay was in the tower at V38 the first half of your mission doing an "intercepter ground control" imitation and I was chasing the La diversion force. I chased them for several sectors and wasted a lot of time climbing up to them before I broke off. The whole time Deejaay is telling me "the high dots are a diversion, the Checkertails are doing a NOE raid on P55" and I was saying he was a doofus. Danged if he didnt call it right. :D
I dove down to the canyon and Deejaay and I got there just after the film ends, but we couldnt figure out what you had or were going to hit, we even thought you had not dropped yet. We (I) never thought someone would send a mission to hit a non-gamey (IE a realistic) target. It all makes sense now. Funny how a realistic mission that could very well have really happened in WWII looks out of place, and dare I say it, silly against the backdrop of the "gamey" play you usually see. Good job.:aok

Thanks Grits... sorry it was so short... but I was wrapping it up at about 1 am est when I started about 2pm est... plus the film was 40mb... but next time I will show the egress... I will continue to make these from time to time... so if any of you guys come up with story lines... let me know... it might happen...
But when did you figure out we were NOE... after we hit or before?
-
Nah, you dont have to show the egress, that way nobody has to see me get shot down 4 times by the A20's gunner's. :)
I was convinced the La's were buffs going to hit HQ (which is probably exactly what you wanted) and I would not break off. DeeJaay figured out you guys were doing a NOE raid down the canyon well before you got to the bridge/P55, at least a sector maybe more, he kept saying over and over "Its the Checkertails, I'm telling you, its them, I can tell its them" but I didnt think he was right and continued to climb after the high dots. I doubt we could have stopped you anyway since we were the only two axis players that were even paying attention to what was going on, everybody else was in the A50/A25/A41 furball in the SW of the map.
I finally climbed high enough to get a con and realized I was 5v1 in a 109G10 against much higher La7's and had been totally hooked by the diversion. I got bounced by the La's and thought I was dead for sure, but by some miracle I evaded them without taking a single hit and the La's did not follow, which I still have not figured out. By this time DeeJaay had upped and was nearly to P55, and I was diving in full compression to meet him there. We both got there just after you guys dropped and were OTW home.

Grits, we didnt follow because when you extended away, you headed right for the 325th. So we backed off hoping you'd rally others in the area to come back and take another crack at us. Allowing the 325th could sneak in and away. I recall the encounter with you , we could not have chased you too far we were already at a 1/4 of a tank. It was a fun though the realistic type mission are much less dramatic, but still manage to be fun.
Grits:aok

Maybe I read it wrong off the map... if you look Northwest of P55 you will see what I saw... maybe it was austria... I just assumed that the whole map was Hungry... My bad... but glad you enjoyed it.
-
Ahh, that makes sense Lowe. I didnt come back because Deejaay was yellin "A20's NOE at P55! A20's NOE at P55!" but I didnt believe him until I got cons on you.
Its funny, the realistic missions are just like the stories you read about from WWII vets, boring for most of the mission and then a few seconds of total panic. In the typical furball you have not invested much time climbing or flying to the fight and you are close to a field you can re-up so its no big deal to get killed.
In this one, when I saw you guys I just paniced because I had spent the better part of 20-30 min climbing and chasing you and didnt want it to end in a bounce. My relief when you guys didnt follow was just about as close to a real 109 pilot's relief as you can get in this game I think. Nothing like the real thing, but I was...um...happy you didnt follow me. :D
To everyone in that mission.

very cool::
Just one note though.
It's Hungary.

Grits this is exactly what guys like oldman dont like (lack of the "quick furball"). This is why some of us do not like base capture. This is really what we (Checkertails and Duxford Eagles) like to do instead of the typical furballing kill then be killed atmosphere normally seen in the CT.
I do recall you comming after us. It was our responsability to decoy...not to see a single con and shoot it down if it was not a threat to the mission.
As you approached the La flight, Lowe set out to keep an eye on you. As he said, we wanted to drag what we could north away from the river. When you started back we started to worry. I really thought you gave up and was RTB. Then Stream sent out an SOS. Thats where our comunication broke down. When we met with the bombers, I saw you smoking a single bomber. That was me that enguaged you but it was spoiled when I dove too fast, was still too late, then missed the shot. I had no idea Deej was comming after me...my wingman and I were slit up and I had no 6 call. When I over shot you, I looked back to see what you were going to do. If you had turned back, I was to continue climbing and get back to the bombers and form with my wingman. If you were to head back to the bombers, I was to eliminate you which is what I expected you to do. Well, Deej kinda eliminated me. When I looked to see what you were going to go, Deej stole my wing then I exploded. We were, or at least I, was expecting only one con to be after the bombers...YOU! Because of a simple comunication problem, plus me not "rubbernecking", I died. It was a tuff sortie. We had a plan, that included strategic base "flashing". We were too far from the bombers then too close, then too far, then too close. Due to the capturing of A1, fuel was a big concern. The rest of the La7s had no choice, even when we departed we knew, but had to land at the port. That is when oldman joined in...but not for long { oldman}
Jg3 captures bases in an organised but suicidel type mass formation..ruthless and relentless but you know were they will end up. (At a VH Base or an Airfield). We know what targets they will select first, whet needs to be eliminated in order for it to be captured. We try to pick a target that we decide is a realistic type (strat) target and treat it as Jg3 would treat the importance of a base capture. The bridge was bombed and the mission was considered a huge success, although the CT flyers may not think so, and those front line bases could not get thier beer. We take pride in these types of missions. The way Deej was thinking is what we want, we want others to get interested in these realistic type missions.
We dont normaly concern ourselves with the typical "shane mentality" of "turn&burn" furballing skills. Some of our squadmates fly for weeks and never even have the opertunity to land a kill. They do it for the love of the mission. However, we do understand some players like oldman have little time to play and want a quick fight.
Some of these maps have great (gameplay meaningless) strat targets that require tough, deep planning and fuel management(hard to do with the crazy base capture). You should see thay mission orders that were sent to the 78th by Stream. They are in Adobe format with screenshots (recon pics) of the targets.
Ask stream how long it took him to recon the mission, plan it and write up the orders. Things like "basecapture" can cause a well, time consuming, planed mission to get waisted.
You guys will be seeing more missions like this on tuesdays and thursday nights.
I am glad you and deej enjoyed it. We enjoyed it as well.
Hopefully on tuesday and thursday nights, axis CT players will enter the arena at 9pm eastern and begin to wonder what target the 78th and/or 325th plan to attack. Much harder to figure out when it isnt a base!

I would have to agree with you there Magee, people think of squads as just a way of gang banging other pilots, and some of that might be true. I have to draw attention to one of my pilots as an example. He may not be the greatest fighter pilot or land a lot of kills or like Magee said fly for weeks or months without landing a kill, but he just enjoys the atmosphere of teamwork, and the friendships that he has made. My hats off to him, if it was me, I would have given up a long time ago

I can't take the credit for planning this mission, that was done by my G-2 (Intel Officer) 1st Lt Viper61 and my G-3 (Ops Officer) 1st Lt Warlover. We do have a routine now where it takes up to like 4 days to have the mission set for thursday's, but if you go and fly squad ops you will see somewhat the simaliar protocol. We just have a HQ Meeting and plan on what's going to happen for the next week based on what the map is... and the ball rolls from there.

You can bank on this, it doesn't have to be just squad guys too. Independents are welcome in our mission, you will be more than welcome to fly along side us.

I love a good furball, but I really like these types of realistic missions too. I do not care for the random base capture for the sake of base capture thing, its kinda pointless. Your mission was well planned and executed, not just a mob jailbreak.

And it worked, I took the bait all the way.

And that's the cool thing LT, real missions had communication problems, signals get crossed, flights get separated, that is one of the cool things about missions like that one. I can not take credit for locating the buffs though, it was all Deej. We saw the first signs of the mission very early and thought you guys were going way up north above the mountains to hit something up there. For a while we sat in the tower looking at the flashing bases trying to figure out were you were heading. He knew what was up long before I did.

I would like to see more of that too, but it is hard to do since most folks treat the CT as "MA Lite" or a large multiplayer dualing arena. I do remember as Deej and I got into vis range of the A20's we could not figure out what they had done, we thought they were hitting the PT base, yet saw no signs of damage there. The A20's were obviously OTW home, we did not know what happened.

[/b]
I understand, but I think the best way to do it is first learn to be deadly, then learn to stay alive. Staying alive has a lot to do with flying smart, and teamwork with a wingman and a squad. Do it the other way around and you may get good at staying alive, but you will never really get deadly.

I am generally a furball type, but you will get me intereseted in a gameplay meaningless (IE realistic) mission loooooong before you will ever get me interested in simple "plant the flag" base capture.

Well, as you know I swap back and forth between axis and allied, but any time I am flying axis on those nights you can rest assured I'll be looking for ya. :)
