Title: gfti4200 shoots craps...
Post by: WhiteHawk on February 03, 2004, 06:07:35 AM
My old puter started goofing on colors and what not.  Crashed a cupple of times. After some remedial troubleshooting, i stuck an old graphics card in and it works perfectly.  Both cards use the same drivers.  I have come to the conclusion that the gfti4200 is shot.  It is about 2 years old.  These cards should last longer than that shouldnt they?

The average upgrade cycle for an enthusiast level graphics card is 18 - 24 months...

dunno, maybe the fact that your CPU and motherboard are so highly overclocked it could have something to do with it, is you AGP bus locked?

Let me guess, Gainward?

I recently got mine replaced.  It's bad capacitors that cause the colors thing.  Gainward warrantees for 3 years, although I had to try about 5 times to get someone present to give me an RMA #.  If yours isn't Gainward then find out what the warranty is from your manufacturer.

My wife's did the same thing but sooner so it went to Newegg with less hassle.

thnx guys

by the way, my new beast is the one that is irresponsibly overclocked, but runs like a 440 road runner.  It dont have a gfti4200 in it.  The old office puter is the one that shot craps.
