Title: McMac
Post by: Vector on February 07, 2004, 12:40:19 PM
After some serious thinking (yes, I'm able to do that) I switched from pc to Mac. After 13 years of pc's I gave up and got a dual processor 1.8 GHz G5 with 1.5 GB of ram. This machine is "pretty" fast :D
OS X Panther is fantastic!

No AH, but WB can be found. Well I have to purchase a new HOTAS in order to play. We'll see...

According to what I've read, after 3 years of Mac OS X release, there's still no viruses found! Cool!

Anyone else here has a Mac?

After "thinking" you decided to switch to a Mac?  Hmmm, I do not think "thinking" means what you think it means. :p

Wouldn't more than a dozen computers have to be infected before it could be a catalogued virus?

Do that many macs even exist?

I bought a smokin' G4 this August with all the bells and wistles. Two weeks later I pawned it for 80 bucks and eventually lost it. lol

But yeah... Macs are great.

WTG Vector. I've worked on just about every model since the SE. Great machines.

At home I have PCs.

I work on Macs, play on PCs.
If it was the other way around, and I'd prolly shoot myself.

Bought a mac a few months ago and hadn't had one since OS 8.1. OS X really is great and I've been very impressed with everything about it.

OS includes everything I need. No MS Office or other addons necessary to open Office files and browser is excellent. The graphics, ichat (the video/audio quality is outstanding), iTunes and burner all are superb. It really is classy.

I only use my PC for AH now. Targetware runs on macs...

If you talk trash about Macs, you have not tried one lately.

Meh, no thankyou. I share an office with Mac users.

Ever tried setting up a VPN client on OSX?
Ever tried setting up a non-postscript network printer for OSX?

Virus's OSX? yes.
Worms for OSX? yes.

Its just Unix with a Apple GUI over the top. Hell you can even download their version of Unix for the PC. Mac's are nice, but they have a lot of limitations. The most amazing thing about Mac's is how blinkered their owners are when it comes to anything else - they seem to think Microsoft writes ALL the software for the PC.

Although one good thing the Mac's finally doing, is starting to adopt PC architecture and hardware ;) . That shiney G5 with its opteron-based board and IBM CPU in it :D

why would a virus programmer want to target such a small audience for his work?

if most ppl were running pc's on linux, or macs with osx they would be the hardest hit,
