maybe i have too many hobbies but.... I have pretty much forgotten the old Healey for about 2 months now... The sun came out and... Well..
the thing fired right up. Them "optima" batteries are frigging great... Got one in both my cars.. battery acid on the posts and terminals is a thing of the past. The battery holds a charge longer than any I have ever owned too.

It was a gorgeous day here yesterday too. Took my scooter out and rode a 100 mile triangle. It was probably a bit cooler here though Laz, mid 40's. I got a chill before the ride was over but it was worth it. My phyque is reset to zero again and I can take on the WORLD!! :D

I look forward to driving it Wednesday. Any chance you can have a fresh paint job on it by then. Don't fiddle with the heating system... I'm sure it will be perfect for the weather.

passenger side is warmer than drivers for some reason... the carpet melted in one spot.

This thread is worthless without pics, Lazs. Lets see the new primer coat.

I don't know how to post pics but... I reversed the colors... It's semi flat black on top with semi flat red inserts on the sides. welll... right now it is covered with a layer of dust.

That's because your Healey has the steering wheel on the wrong side. :p
-
I believe that there are two little islands... maybe three that still cling to putting the wheel in the passenger side and then driving on the left side of the road.

...and one of those little islands measures about 3000 miles across - it's called Australia. There's also a piddling little country you've probably never heard of, which is home to about ¼ of the world's population and also drives on the left side. It's called China. There are quite a few others, but that will do to be going on with. :p
-
yeah but only about what? 5 miles of australia is occupied? and china.... what? a dozen cars? who cares what side of the road they drive on since they are unlikely to see another car.
On the australians.... lot of guys In my modified Healey group live there... Australians are real hot rodders..

Don't forget India (not that they take any notice of what side they are supposed to be driving on).
Many Asian countries drive on the proper side of the road :).
-
so basicly.... no place important puts their steering wheel in the passenger side of the dash and drives on the left?

I haven't been able to put my top down in about a month. I hate you.

Pei - yep, and many of the African states - South Africa, Zimbabwe to name just two. Also Japan - a dominant force to be reckoned with in the US motoring industry. Americans laughed when Japan started exporting small cars like the Mazda 626 to the US (having put the steering wheel on the wrong side). Then Americans started buying them in large numbers, and the US auto industry chiefs began crapping bricks. But then they had the answer: Little sawn off Cadillacs - hilarious in pink. :lol
Still, what's Japan? A collection of little islands...
-
all the cars the japs send here or, more accurately, build here, have the steering wheel on the drivers side so that you can see when driving on the right side of the road..
I haven't seen too many chinesse or african or australian cars here lately... in fact.. haven't really seen many british ones unless... i go to a nostalgia show.

Lazs - I would hope they also align the headlamps for LHD, and set up the windscreen wipers for LHD. That used to be a pet hate of mine about German cars. They never used to bother to configure the wipers for RHD on cars exported to the UK.
PS - what nationality is your Healey?
-
Ya know... I don't think most Americans who bought jap cars back then, or even now.... ever even knew that the cars were wrong hand drive in japan... in fact... most of the cars they sent/send us never were wrong hand drive being built specificaly for the U.S.
which brings up the Healey... another car that was mostly built for export. There are a lot more Healeys around with left hand drive than without. The car was built with America in mind. My car was converted to reliable long ago... In the 60's and 70's you could find mechanicaly unsound healeys for dirt cheap... they had lousy wiring/electrical systems and weak transmissions and troublesome wire wheels and hubs plus.... heavy, underpowered drivetrains in general and were a real pain to work on.. The only thing left that is british on my car is the body...most of the frame, steering and some front suspension.... and trim. All the rest is American... GM wiring.... 331 chevy.... muncie 4 speed... bilstein shocks... narrowed chevy rear end... griffon radiator.. American racing magnessium wheels..
There are probly 1,000 healeys that are converted to better drive trains.

Does yours still have my initials on the hubcaps? :p

Personally, I don't think I want to see you with your top down...funny boy..(http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/images/smilies/fruit.gif)(http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/images/smilies/icon9.gif)

Ya know... I did have a set of those hubcaps at one time but threw em away... was a big mistake.. They are worth money now. I used to throw away all the junk I stripped off Harleys too tho... I am pretty irreverant I guess.

Ummm Beat1e, I may not be as well versed in worldly matters as yourself, but the Chinese drive on the right side of the road (in the Southern Provinces anyway).
If you limit yourself to Hong Kong and Kowloon, you would be correct.
-
So the chiness that weren't repressed by the tyrannical imperialists and had free choice..... drive on the right side of the road?

You're right!
In Singapore they drive on the left, also Indonesia (17,000 little islands!)
