Got a new pc reinstalled the game now ctd every time i fly pc is a hp running xp media only real thing im doin different is i have a cordless keyboard and mouse help plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I had that - only when playing AH. It turned out that I was running the CPU overclocked. Adjusted clock settings - all OK ever since.

overclock beetle ??? how     hap specs are  3.2 ghz pen4 512 mb ram video nividia fx5200 128mb windowsxpmedia addition  wireless keyboard and mouse running dsl sound is ac 97

Yep, my BIOS settings for the FSB speed and multiplier equated to a slight overclock. Have you checked your own BIOS settings?

Also, you need to tell us what motherboard you have so we can download the manual for it. That way, we'd be able to tell you where to look for those settings.

tater - download the Belarc personal audit software (500K): http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html

Install this program. It runs itself the first time, and comes up with an .HTML page report. Near the top on the right hand side, you will see details for your motherboard, CPU, memory etc. Report back with your findings!

I don't see that model listed on the Asus site. The closest was the P45DX. The BIOS settings are not different from my own Asus mobo. Do you have the mobo manual? Look for the advanced settings. You will need to restart your system, and interrupt the boot to get into the BIOS. On Asus boards this is usually done by holding the DEL key down while rebooting. You'll need to check the first three values in the attached pic. If the external frequency multiplied by the frequency multiple comes to a speed which is greater than the rated speed of your CPU, you have an overclock situation. The text following the BIOS screen illustration warns that overclocking can cause the system to hang or crash. That's the problem I had, and fixed it by adjusting these settings. I was fine in all apps except AH. But AH with an overloaded CPU was causing the CTD - sounds like what you have.

Not meaning to be rude, but if all this is over your head, you might want to get someone else to take a look at it.

beetle your not being rude at all it is over my head but ive learn alot in the last 2 weeks since last cpu failed some good some bad lol but ill try this out and let you know thanks and

OK.

I'm not familiar with Pentium processors - have been running AMD since 1999 - so I'm not sure which model of Pentium 4 3.2 you have, and what its speed is without being overclocked. Maybe you can check with one of the other guys here who runs an Intel processor.

If you don't have your motherboard manual, download it and save it on your PC. Go to the Asus FTP download site by clicking here (http://www.asus.com.tw/support/download/selectftp.aspx?l1_id=1&l2_id=15&l3_id=18&m_id=1&f_name=e1215_p4sdx.pdf~zaqwedc). A page comes up offering you various sites from which to download. Best to right click one, and then go the "Save Target As" route. You don't want to have to download it every time you want to read it.

Are the Pentium numbers representative of their performance? One could be misled, for example, into thinking that the XP2600 runs at 2.6GHz. It actually runs at at 2.083GHz. The XP2000 does not run at 2.0GHz, but at 1.67GHz.

So let's not confuse the boy! Tater, you have your answer.

I also experienced crash to desktop when overclocking my computer.  It would run benchmarks like 3dmark2003 fine but ctd on AH. I solved it (at least it went away) by upping Vcore.  I suppose ctd could occur if the power supply didn't maintain voltage even if the computer wasn't overclocked.  Video Card problems could also cause ctd.  
You could run Prime95 (http://www.mersenne.org/freesoft.htm) on it and if it fails it's most likely a hardware issue and if it passes it's a driver/software issue.
