Title: Books on drawing aircraft?
Post by: Glasses on February 09, 2004, 10:14:12 PM
Anyone know a good book on drawing aircraft. I'd say I'm fairly good drawing people but as far as aircraft and cars go I'm pretty crappy so anyone know a good book that tells you how to draw these and their internals?

If you didn't spend your entire k-12 education drawing them, there's no hope for you.  :)

Hi Glasses,

dont know about such books, but i suggest you to ask for help here. (http://forums.sijun.com/)
Very good Artists there :)

I used to draw Aircrafts and Vehicles some years ago with Airbrush technique.
Today i mainly draw only digital (if at all i draw anything and dont spent ALL
my spare time paragliding this days;).
Some tips here:
Setup the Scene you like to draw with a 3D program. No need for textures.
Print it out and now you have a near 100% correct perspective. And you
can start drawing everything, the plane, landscape ect. The 3D program
can even help you to see where to draw shadows, lightspots ect.

There is a book written specifically about drawing aircraft and the techniques involved, but  I forget the title.  Have you done a search on Amazon? I get a catalog from motorbooks.com  that has it in it every time. You might search there.

Found one in Amazon called how to draw aircraft like a pro but dunno if this book is good for  this kind of amateurish drawing I have.

If you think I should buy this book I'm all for it but I don't have the slightest clue.

All great suggestions thanks everyone.

Now if only I could get nude women to play with my Joysticks while drawing them I'd be set :D
