yep... bulgarian makarovs in 9x18 for 149 bucks apiece... I have even heard of em for as low as $125.
makarovs are prety decent little pistols that shoot well... Ammoman has mak rounds for $109 per thousand in hollowpoint.. even the elderly on fixed incomes could afford this fine firearm and enough ammo to practice with.
guns are new in thick cosmoline with 2 8round mags and an extra set of target grips...
might not be a bad idea to buy about 10 of em. What great Xmas presents they would make huh?

Where?
-
Seriously, I need to start somewhere with handguns. Tell me where to buy it and show me how to shoot it this weekend.
-
Yeah, where? Kind of a poor mans PPK it would seem. Bet the workmanship is pretty good too.

go to gunsnstuff.com and you can see em there or tell any FFL dealer that you want the bulgarian makarov and they will get it for you. You will have to go through an FFL dealer in any case.
nice little double action pistol.. You can probly download dissasembly manual on the internet. you will need it... cosmoline is nasty stuff.
Cheaper than dirt has ammo for it too but Ammoman has free shipping to the land of the free.
Is this a great country or what?

Umm, those prices are about average. You can find better if you really look, but it doesn't matter much.
If you're looking for cheap guns, there's an Importer by the name of Century Arms. They import cheap knockoffs of popular guns. I.E. 1911's, 92fs's, g3's.
However, I can guarantee that the extractor pin on each of these guns is bad.
So add 20 bucks to the price for a new one and you've still got a pretty good price.

think there is a http://www.makarov.com
Mine was a Bulgarian made by Arsenal.
fine little guns, mine shot well, never jammed on ball(hollowpoint was another matter, don't think they like it to well. )
-
Makarov's suck!! Err...wait.
Well as my name implies, I own a Makarov. A Russian 9x18mm model. It's a VERY reliable pistol, pretty good stopping power with Corbon rounds and great price. I've had mine for 7+ years and never had a missfire.
I use to keep it under my seat when I lived in Louisiana. Now that I'm in Cali I can't have a concealed weapon in my vehicle...but I don't feel the need for it like I did in Louisiana.
If you get one I highly recommed getting the Pearce grips to replace the plastic ones that come with the Mak. It gives the pistol a great grip after.

AIM pistols has "lightly" used makarovs for $119 with 4 extra magazines included! The bulgarian are suppossedly the best of the bunch.

FYI, they'll most likely ship it to a local dealer near you, which in turn may charge roughly $25. Check with a gun dealer near you before purchasing, I could have saved $15 on my Taurus .40 if I had...
Also, they run a background check on ya thru the FBI, which may take 5 minutes, but they have up to 3 days for this check, so you may have to wait once it comes to your local gun dealer.

Hey! The "Key chain" model! How come you don't have your keys on the end of that keyring on the bottom? :lol
-
Sounds like a PITA, can't I just walk in and buy them somewhere?
-
Yep, silly looking. Btw that's not mine. It was from the Makarov website. Just showing how the Pearce grips look.
That pull key thingy is for an extended mag to allow easier pulling of the mag release I believe.

OH boy more cheap guns on the streets LOL.
Not slamming responsable gun owners .
But you can imagine every home boy in east LA will be sporting one of these now LOL.
-
probly funked... try calling around to local dealers. If not... no big deal. Just have em order em for ya.
One dealer around here wants $230 for the same gun that he has in stock.

Not if they have a criminal record they won't. Brady Act.

Some how i dont think the gang bangers care too much about filling out all the federal forms LOL.
in other words they steal them and sell them from the trunks of cars to eachother.
-
These guns are not large enough to interest the gangbangers... holding one sideways and sneering only makes people ask if that is a gun in your hand or some food item.... They are also not shiny enough to interest pimps.

If they're going to steal them, then what does the guns being inexpensive have to do with anything?
-
What he means is.... if old people and single women and poor people in bad neigborhoods(the people who most need em) can't afford guns then there will be less out there...
pretty much... only the wealthy should have guns kinda school of thought.

Well silly little man.
inexpensive = more sold = more stolen=more on the streets.

No offense Mr.Black, but that reasoning blows.
Ok, you break into a gun shop. You have free play to get anything you want. Are you going after the makarovs?

Yep I would be more likely to toss a one of those POS in the lake than a SIG or a KIMBER.
Can you say disposable:)

We're not talking about intelligent people here.
**THESE GUYS ARE ROBBING A GUN STORE!!**
The moment the thought even crossed their mind their intelligence should have been in question.
Plus we all know that shiny things catch stupid people's eyes...

LOL true how true:rofl

Anything oversized and nickle plated = gangbanger. :)
Actually thats not true those Lorcin .380s were selling on the street for like 85 bucks. They were every where. Back when I had my FFL I could get them for like $55-65 depending on how many I bought.
Those Markovs are decent guns but a bit over priced if bought at a gun shop. Find a buddy with an FFL and can save some money.
Incidentally when I still had my FFL I bought 10 SKS (chinese) for 60 bucks each and replaced the stocks. I only have 2 left. They are fun to shoot.
-
Some of the makarovs are considered a C&R (not the bulgarians though) and can be shipped directly to you if you have a C&R license.
I'm on the lookout for one that IS a c&r cause I want a cheap reliable pistol to shoot. Plus i like old guns, way more class than any of that new plastic crap.
http://www.gunsnammo.com/
9x18 1000 rounds for $89
-
mr black... the makarov is definetely not a POS.. It is well made and accurate... used by allmost all soviet block countries for their military and police forces. It is a small, powerful and accurate gun that fires a very good 9x18 round... very powerful for this size of a blowback gun.
If I needed to throw a gun in the river I wouldn't care how much it had cost me.
I think that people who can't afford the likes of a PPK will be well served with the makarov.

B-b-but don't you know - more guns = less crime! Funked mentions the Brady law - clearly the Brady law is responsible for restricting the supply of guns and therefore causing more crimes. Repeal the Brady Law! Ripsnort for President!

All the homies I knew who packed had cheap .380s, whatever crap intratec was churning out(ab-10,tec-9,or glocks like in the rap songs, and pimped out .45s) Not one even heard of Makarov
It is not a piece of crap.

more guns in the hands of women and old people and poor people will indeed decrease crime as will increased penalties for crimes commited with guns...
what happens is this.... it is ok to shoot someone who is assaulting you but if you assault someone or rob someone using a firearm to do so... you have an automatic increase in your sentance....
pretty much... open season on the bad guys. The bad guys then operate under the premise that it is best not to use a firearm and that it is best not to confront anyone because.... anyone might have a gun and they have free reign to shoot.
The occasional rabid dog of a human will still exist but.... overall.... more high quality, inexpensive firearms like the Makarov in the hands of normal citizens will reduce crime.
I just bought 3

There Is some logic to what you say laz.
I am all for good people being armed to the hilt!
I bought my mother a walther ppks 380 last year for her protection.
Also made her get her concelded perment.
She goes shooting atleast once a month and LOL the old girl is pretty dang good with it:eek:
-
some logic to what I say? this is not a theory.. You should read proffessor John Lott's "more guns less crime" It is an undisputed (successfully) work on the subject. By any account the most fair and well researched effort ever done on the subject.
Either that or .... all the liberal gun haters are right but....lazy liars who could prove him wrong if they really really tried.. So far tho.... every liberal gun hater that tried to prove him wrong ends up sputtering and saying that the numbers don't matter.... the studies don't matter.... what matters is how they feel about it.

LOL i know i know I got my first gun when I was 10.
My dad bought me a remingtion 22cal rifle.
And to date I probably have over 40 firearms of some sort LOL.
And My government whom I love will NEVER relieve me of them I can assure you of that.
I am an American and this Is my right.
I have no criminal record and therefore shall remain a proud gun owner.
BTW I have 3 Gun safes all weapons are stored there expept my winchester defender shogun I keep loaded for home defence.
Would not do me much good in a home intrusion If I had to go upstairs and open a safe to retrieve it LOL.
But also I have NO KIDS in the house I think this Is a very important point to make If you are to keep a loaded weapon in your home.
-
I've been talking to a few people, and apparently a M1 Carbine is a really good defense gun.
