lazs
-
You ought to buy him one for his birthday.
-
None, Lazs. But if you want one, I'll lend you the $149. :D
-
thanks beet... I ordered three at $119 each with 4 extra magazines each. You can shoot one next time they let you out.
don't EVEN try to pretend you don't want to!
lazs
-
Mail it to him Lazs, one part at a time. Then he can reassemble it in England and go to the countryside to go plinkin'!
-
the part with the serial number on it is considered a firearm.
reminds me tho of a buddy in the late 60's who used to send us SKS rifles from vietnam.

Serial numbers? What serial numbers?

Hehe, sounds like a Lazs-style invitation. :aok What kind of gun is it, and why did you need THREE?
-
That is one weak-prettythang pistol round. Bought a few the first time they made the circuit. I think they were like $59 or so.
A guy I know translated the manual and put it out for folks to buy on the 'net.
One of the lines in the book describing use of the pistol was a little caption to a picture. "At the deserter, Ready! Fire!"
No kidding.

I thought Lazs said the weapon was Bulgarian, not Russian.

Jim Gebhart's Makarov Manual (http://home.earthlink.net/~edpm3/RMT.html)
Jim was a linguist/translator at Ft. Leavenworth Army Command and Staff College.
I've met him, shot with him. Heck, he was the guy that wanted the Makarov's I bought.
He translated it... ask him. ;)
Beet, they're just Makarov's built in Bulgaria is all.

"A direct translation of the original Soviet manual on the Use and Maintenance of the Makarov pistol, published in 1957 by the USSR Ministry of Defense."

Toad.. while no hand cannon.... the 9x18 round puts out about 200+ lbs of energy at about 1200 fps from the little makarov... this compares pretty favorably with a 38 special snubby with +p rounds.

Lazs,
What does 9x18 refer to?
OK, I found your other thread. So now I know what this gun looks like. It certainly looks as if it would fit snugly into my girly hands.
Yes, I would like to order one, please. But I don't like the black grip. I was wondering if you could get me a replacement grip - either in salmon pink, or maybe with a gentle floral pattern.
-
It's about a .380 Auto isn't it Laz?
Makarov
9mm Makarov (9x18 PM) 6.175 FMJ Vel 315 Energy 306
.380
.380 Auto - 9mm short (9x17) 5.85 JHP Vel 305 Energy 272
Popguns. ;)
-
hehe toad... energy with a 380 is about 50lbs less (or one 22 slug) makarov runs about 1200 fps with euro ammo.. no hand cannon but about the best comprimise for a pocket gun caliber I have seen.
I have a Walther ppk stainless in .32 and still feel that even my broken up old body can summon up the energy to kick the bad guys butt after I put 8 .32 hydroshocks into him. The 9x18 is much better.
beetle... the guns come with 2 sets of grips... the gouche military ones and some much nicer target ones that are made for regal, small hands. people who have ruined their hands by physical labor won't be able to use them so you will have a certain class factor.

Lazs, I bet you're looking forward to Monday, when the new month of March rolls around. You will be able to get Mak #2. :D
I'll take the April one! :)
-
Oops..Handgun thread,better not post in here.:D
-
why not loin? I bet a weeks salary that you would enjoy shooting the little commie gun what ya think?
Found ammo for $88 a thousand... commie hollow point stuff for a commie gun... smells like old cap guns (the red strips ya know?) when it goes off... I kinda like that smell. Hven't got even one through the Kaliforia red tape yet but shot a bulgy at the range... little things shoot well.

9 is the diameter and 18 is the length of the cartridge or something like that.

Toad:
I can't believe you are whining about the stopping power of this fine piece of Eastern European craftsmanship. Besides the manual clearly states that for safe operation of the weapon, targets must be kneeling and properly handcuffed. If you just follow instructions, weapon effectiveness is more than adequate.

We have a BBS full of posters that are continuously drinking some form of beverage while reading funny ****. :D

yep.. the 9 is for the diameter of the bullet and the 18 is the length of the case. to confuse things... A .380 is .356 dia. and 17 MM long in the case... the parabellum or 9mm luger is 9mm or .356 with a case of 19 mm long... the 9 by 18 makarov is .364 dia. with a case length of 18mm... both the .357 magnum and 38 special are .357 dia.
I bought a couple thousand rounds of russian 9 by 18 ammo in anticipation of Kalifornia letting me have the first of MY guns... It is a little disconcerting to have them stick to a magnet.
