Second wind has brought a big influx of MA folks to the CT this week, and it has been good to see the numbers up. I have noticed some habits of the MA folks that the CT regulars dont usually do and thought I'd see what others think. None of these are complaints, just observations.
1. Side switching when the balance shifts. When the balance shifts away from one side, large (I'm guessing around 1/3) numbers of players switch away from the losing side. This week I have seen it go both ways. Last night at one point the Allies had 37 and the Axis had 12. If you are in a 262 thats no big deal, but in the Japanese prop planes that can get ugly. Saw the same thing happen to the Allies earlier this week.
2. "Plant the Flag, Win the War". When either side gets that large numerical advantage they immedeately start rolling up the map. Reschke had to reset the map because of it. Japan was down to one or two bases on the N end of the map.
3. Base porking. This is a byproduct of the 163. I have never seen so much base porking, but I cant really say I blame them for trying to ground the "Tie Fighter", especially the way Magie has been flyin' that thing.
4. Ch 1. As most of you CT regulars know, Ch 1 gets heated sometimes, but it is different than the stuff you see from the mouth-breathing droolers in the MA. The MA temporarys brought that junk with them and at points it got rather tiresome. I dont squelch ch 1 though because I've got buddies on both sides and I like to chat with them.
5. Nits, Bish, Rooks. MA temporary's, for the most part, dont realize we in the CT are not aligned with an MA country, we just happen to be two of the three. This relates to #4 above and was the cause of a lot of the Ch 1 chatter "Nits are lame" "No, Bish are lame", when in reality, I dont even know what chess peice country I'm in, only Axis or Allied.
I'm sure there are other things I forgot, and none of this bothered me, mostly it was amusing.

I really hate it that I have to fly Axis to get to fly the 163 but it is an axis plane. I have been in AH CT for about two years now. This is the first time that it has been avaiable at forward bases. A few weeks ago it was available at an extream rear base that was seldom close enough to the action to fly it and is the only two times it has been available at all. I know its a dweeb ride but what can I say, I have waited a long time to fly it. I also wanted to fly the F4U-1C but I fear the 163 will not be back any time soon and is why I spent as much time flying it as I did. The stats proove that the B-17, F4U-4 and F4U-1C are no theat to late war set-ups which include the N1K2J and leave out the F4F, so it should be returning soon.

Instead of knights/bish/rook/whatever are lame, we in the CT have moved on to an Allied/Axis are lame mentality. :)

Yes I have always got a kick out of MA guys that come in and try to ralley a side by showing allegence to a certain chess piece while , insulting another.
" Cmon Bishies let's get those nits" Just doesnt stir the blood like ,, " Lets slaughter those Allied Spitstudmuffin Nancy Boys" , or " Time to kill those Nazi Bastages".
In fact I've seen guys come in and just go beserk trying to rally Nits, or Bishies, just to be ignored, because all us CT nuckleheads are locked into the Axis/Allied thing. Different strokes for different folks I guess.:)

Just curious, but are you saying that you never usually fly Axis? If so, is this based on stigma or plane choices?

No one talks to him over there:D

How about " Why dont Rooks have any bases? This is bs, Im outa here"
or "Why do the Bish have the 190 and we dont?"
"Well its Axis vs Allies in here"
" Yeah, but why dont we have the 190?"
"BECAUSE, we are flying Allied, youll have to switch to Knits to get the 190. They are Axis"
"This is bs, my squad only flies Bish, im outa here"
Maybe the CT has the ability to weed out the very bottom of the barrel MA types? Or is that us?:D

Actually has been quite fun to have the 163 enabled more widely.
I recognize the CT is a "historical" arena but I think it was a nice chsnge up. I think some occasional "ad-lib" setups (maybe once a QTR) are great. I'd love to see the 163 enabled on both sides for a day:)...
