Title: Kerry Kerry, he's our man!!!!
Post by: Rude on February 13, 2004, 04:40:39 PM
Quote
"Mr. President, we have every reason to believe that Saddam Hussein will continue to do everything in his power to further develop weapons of mass destruction and the ability to deliver those weapons, and that he will use those weapons without concern or pangs of conscience if ever and whenever his own calculations persuade him it is in his interests to do so. . . . I have spoken before this chamber on several occasions to state my belief that the United States must take every feasible step to lead the world to remove this unacceptable threat. He must be deprived of the ability to injure his own citizens without regard to internationally-recognized standards of behavior and law. He must be deprived of his ability to invade neighboring nations. He must be deprived of his ability to visit destruction on other nations in the Middle East region or beyond. If he does not live up fully to the new commitments that U.N. Secretary-General Annan recently obtained in order to end the weapons inspection standoff - and I will say clearly that I cannot conceive that he will not violate those commitments at some point - we must act decisively to end the threats that Saddam Hussein poses." [Congressional Record, 3/13/98.]

Senator John F. Kerry

Interesting.  A excerpt dated 1998 from the Congressional Record.  Now where's the one dated anywhere even close to the date of the start of the invasion?

Kerry is cool, but he looks like a goon. I still like him, but as a President?! Lol, He IS a common soldier, and he won’t ever let you forget that. Pissed off at the war too.

If he would have a 30 second discussion with Lincoln, Lincoln would have abolished modern day politicians, not slavery.

It’s simply embarrassing how men come to power these days. Not merit, no worth, no values, just snake oil. It’s a bad Bonanza episode, and the guy with a wagon and whiskey spiked snake oil gets the folks drunk on the remedy, and then the donkeys march
 to a new town.
 Pitiful.

Kerry is a good man. Like too stupid to run from Vietnam or find a jet to fly in the Guard and do all the cool aviation stuff Bush did instead?

YUP!

I’ll vote for him if he explains that lack of reasoning.

Please cite a statement made prior to Feb 2003 by any political leader who had credible information refuting Kerry's statement ... (I mean other than SH)

If I remember correctly, he voted for the war this time around, so I really fail to see your point.  He just proved that he didn't vote for the war this time out of "patriotism" or misguided principles, but because he believed it was something to do... 5 years ago.

If Kerry voted for the war this time around, then he did it with the full knowledge of the intelligence reports that Bush used, not based on his beliefs 5 years ago. He had to make a choice based on the facts at the time, not 5 years ago, yet he still was convinced.

Now since Kerry thinks he can attack Bush on the war, is he saying Bush lied to get us into a war?

the "we" being the liberals I guess...they know all the conspiracies.

John Kerry Voted for the war based on the same intelligence Bush had. John Kerry was for the war in Iraq based on the evidence, as was Bush.

John Kerry is a POS of a human, but that is just my opinion.

Bush is a true leader, Kerry is a leader of liberal scum.... big difference.

I could probably, with very little effort, find a 60 year old document or transcript of a speach justifying war with japan.  but it wouldn't really make an invasion at this point a good idea.

so I guess my question is- whats your point?  so he suported doing something about Iraq in '98, what does that have to do with theis fabricated war of 2003. (it is the war of 2003 you know.  bush said the hostilities have ended in the summer 2003, I have no idea why we keep losing men every few days)

The opinion of someone who was happy to hear about a fellow Ace’s High players house that burned down...

Looking over the David Kay Report and transcript from CSpan today..  Seems Operation Desert Fox in ‘98 took out most of the left over WMD

When Weazels house burned down you were filled with glee. It was a year ago during the run up to war and the rhetoric on this board was at fevor pitch.

What you don't remember that thread?.. your comments generated a number posts condeming your statements.

I'd look it up right now if I remembered the title of the thread.

How would you know if I was "filled with glee"? Are you a mind reader?

Weazel was the only one that was always spewing rhetoric at a fever pitch. I remember Weazel and I'm happy to say he is gone ( in name anyway) from this BB.

Show me where I said I was happy or "filled with glee" that weazel's house had a fire ( it didnt burn down, a room burned as I remember)

At least tell me  to the best of your recolition (since you seem so sure) how I was happy that his house had a fire.

Come on.

Bush avoided Viet Nam using the influence of his family. Kerry didn't.

Kerry came home and protested the war with some very unsavory characters, arguably costing the lives of Americans (though through a pretty convoluted manner). Bush didn't.

Kerry argued in '98 we needed to act decisively against Iraq. Bush didn't.

Bush argued in 2003 we needed to act decisively against Iraq. Kerry didn't, but signed off on it based on the very same intelligence Bush used.

WMD are not found, Kerry now says he didn't really support the war, though it is public record he did.

Kay report indicates no one lied about WMD, everyone was wrong, including SH himself.

Kerry says Bush lied about intelligence (though Kay contradicts this statement).

Okay... the question I ask myself is... who is most consistant in this scenario? Kerry seems to bend to the political wind when it is expedient for his career (supporting Clinton, the head of the Democratic Party; supporting Bush when public opinion said it was wise to do so; deny ever supporting Bush when public opinion says it is expedient not to, etc.). Bush, right or wrong, has been consistant in direction and viewpoint.

Yes, someone is lying. Maybe both of them, but at least one is.

The more worried the Repubs get, the more feverish the anti-Kerry bashing.  Sheesh, it's February and he's not even the official nominee yet.

Be fair, Yowser. You've been bashing on Bush for years. Don't get your panties in a wad.
