Lazs - I had the TV on in the background, and there was a rerun of "Streets of San Francisco" playing. Amongst other crimes committed with guns, there was a guy who was bumping off his ex-classmates using a "zip gun". It looked like a home made device... any idea what this is?
-
A zip gun was a homemade hand gun, usually only fired once.
They where made with a pipe bored to the right size cal. no
rifleing. It was fired by a spring and makeshift fireing pin, usually a nail. Mostly used by gangs in the 50's and 60's.

tubing from a car antena, some sort of handle atached with electrical tape, a heavy rubber band, a washer on the band (for a firing pin), and a 22lr shell.

Please not another Beet1e gun post....oh, the humanity.
Is this a phallic fetish?

Can a car antenna handle the pressure?
-
yep, for one shot. you rap the first 3 or 4 inches with about 3/8" of electrical tape.

The base of older car antenaes could probly handle the pressure of a 22 if it was a good fit....
The U.S. dumped thousands upon thousands of pretty much "zip guns" onto europe during WWII... single shot .45's made of sheet metal by General Motors... There was ah....... "gun control" laws at the time. That was of course... 60 years ago... ancient history... could never happen again.
Theory being... any gun will get you a better gun. Once you got better guns you could help throw out the tyrants...
