Title: Converting large numbers of .bmp files to .jpg
Post by: Tarmac on February 14, 2004, 03:26:22 PM
I have a ton of old screenshots from 3d modelling programs that are all saved as .bmps.  Needless to say, they take up a ton of space.  Does anyone know of a program that can take a whole directory full of .bmps and change them into .jpgs?

I really don't want to do the "save as" thing in paint a few hundred times to change them all.  :)

Tarmac,

I have CompuPic by Photodex - http://www.photodex.com

I've just had a look, and this product will do the conversions you're trying to do - batch conversions. You can get it on a trial basis, but I don't know if the trial version supports this feature. If not, you could always mail 'em to me on a CD, and I'll do 'em for you. I promise not to peek. ;)

Thanks, I'll give this a shot as soon as I get my other issues worked out.  Hoping I don't have to format and reinstall.

ACDSee will do batch conversions of Bimps to Jpegs with no problem. If you've got Paint Shop Pro or Photoshop both will let you do mass conversions with nary a hiccup. If you really get desparate, use Paint. It'll load and save both Jpegs and Bimps, just one at a time.
