If you had the chance to time travel back to any period in World War 2 and fight for any country, which would it be, and what period?
For me it would be 1943/early 44 for Luftwaffe on the Western front.

Desert front,Luftwaffe, 1942-43. Outnumbered but not outclassed.
Plus I'd have the chance to wing with one of the best fighter pilots ever, Hans-Joachim Marseille.

Jesus i might be a luftwaffe aircraft enthusiast (i think both the 190 and 109 are very cool aircraft) , but liking the planes and fighting in the war is VERY different.
I do not understand how you could want to fight for the Nazi cause. Not accusing you of being Nai, but each "kill" you got would be buying more time for hitler to slaughter innocents.

I actually felt rather sick just thinking about this... I'd rather not go back in time, I know it would be pretty horrific, but if I had to then I would fly for the RAF - any time period as long as it was helping the allied cause, and obviously Great Britain.

I wouldn't go back if I had the choice. No need to muck with history. No desire to live through hell (or die in it).
If I didn't have the choice, then I'd fly as an eagle in the RAF and later transfer to the USAAF. Fight always for freedom.

Well, without a doubt... I would join the US Marines as a grunt.
Flying flight sims may be my bag (I don't play games like Tribes because shooting human like figures gives me night mares.) But deep down in my chest beats the heart of a grunt. I was on the ground in Vietnam, Con Thien, Cam Lo, GioLinh, Rockpile, Dong Ha, Alpha 1.
I would help kick the Japs prettythang all the way back to Japan, alongside of my Dad (a US SeaBee).
If I couldn't be a Marine, then I'd be a US Dogface, and kick those slimeball Nazis prettythangses back to hell.
I am mostly of German heritage [and a lot is &@#&#! Prussian (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/frown.gif) ], I may have the heritage, but Nazis are the scum of the earth.
Yep, killing Japs or Krauts on the ground, no doubt about it.

I'd personally prefer to fly luke skywalkers wing.....those X-Wing fighters can boogie. Then after a hard days dogfighting .....a night on the town with Kim Basinger....hmmmm must be all those drugs I took back in the 60s' acting up again..... <G>

I'm thinking Longstreet after his Children died, and he returned to the Army of Northern Virginia in the Petersburg trenches (After his wound.)
Just to know what he was thinking.
Failing Longstreet, other choices would be Lee or Sherman.

Well of course being in the AVG and getting $600 for every IJA Plane I knocked down! (Good Survival Odds too.)
Being a Russian Private in some place like Stalingrad or Kursk would be interesting.
Being a Para 101 or 82nd landing in Normandy on 6/6/44 would be an experience too. I could skip the landing at Omaha. If you made me go on a beach I would want to be in the Royal Guard and walk up on Gold or Juno.

The last place I want to be is where people are playing tag with popup shoot back targets! If you want to go to war, you are a sick puppy. Being shot at or up is not glorious or fun.
