Title: Aces High 109 Aces.
Post by: Apache on December 11, 2001, 11:35:00 AM
In a fight at 10 to 15k against a spitIX, which 109 would you choose and why?

In a fight below 10k against a spitV, which 109 would you choose and why?

Would you use gondolas in which they are available or would you not? Why?

They'll all choose the G10.

Why? It can climb like someone shove a space shuttle up the pilot's tail pipe.

I'd chose the G2 against the SpitIX (because I can either climb away or run away and re-engage later) and the F4 against the SpitV because I can either run away or spiral climb away.

No gondolas against a Spitfire, against other planes though- yes I'd take gondolas.

I'd use a G10 in both cases...it can totally dictate the fight. I don't think gondolas are worth the manueverability hit they impose. I could be wrong, probably why I'm a 190 driver  :)

The Bf109G6 is sufficient to kill both spitfeuer dweeebtards.  :)

The only 109 I fly is the 109F.

I would choose that one and end up going down in flames.....

1) 109f with gonds 50% fuel with dt

2) 109f with gonds 50% fuel with dt

3) w/o gonds I find I do not have enough ammo. I'll go gond-less if I think the pilot in the area is above average and need the additional t&b but only if it is he & I.

for most enemy pilots, I can sub the 109g6 with same setup and get away with it but not the good ones.

g10 with gonds = bomber killer or HO shot, whichever comes first  :)

The best characteristic of the G6 and G10 is the hub gun ammunition... (http://www.buypotatoseed.com/potatopicts/Mvc-012s.jpg)

Thanks all for the responses. Just so's ya know, you'll have an easy kill for a while (not that I wasn't anyway).

The 109's seem to be easy kills for some reason. I drool when I see a 109 regardless of his alt. Think I'm going to do some 109 flights and see whats up.

Gee whiz. In the middle of this response, I thought I would check my stats against the 109. I'm 69-7 against all variants since tour 17. Maybe I better stay out of the 109?

Again, thanks all.

G-6  G-10..   matters not as long as the tater-gun is employed.

All ya' gotta' do is climb 'em.

Nothing tastes better than a stalled out spitty.. ok.. except maybe a nik.

Apache-

The 109 is a great plane, it simply isn't for the novice (without combat trim, that is ;)) and it isn't a particularly good furball plane. One vs. one it is one of the best planes in the game.

Ok, another question. I usually hangout at around 8 to 12k. Which 109 other than the G10.

Apache, I'd like to help you here, but I'm afraid Lazs doesn't even know you're flying the 109's. He's gonna be very upset when he finds out.

Apache,

Havent been playing AH for some time now, but I seem to remember the kill/death ratio stats in the G10 to be superior to most AH aircraft.

Let me clarify my earlier comment on the G10. I do use it for buff huntin' but not dogfighting (translation..furball), which is what I like to do mostly.

G2 is probably the best furball weapon IMHO.

I'd say F4.  Slow as hell, but I can get it to turn a lot better than the G2.

I'd fight a Spit at any altitude in any 109.  Don't ask me what tactics I'd use though, I make em up as I go along.

I'd choose a 109F4 against a Spit9 in that situation and a 109G10 against the SpitV. I'd rather BnZ the Spit5 seeing as it's a dangerous turner.
