The new aircraft seem to have old low res skins. I certainly think thats fine cause we have a community more than willing to do that work....but I just need to be sure my eyes arent going away
-
oh well. Time to get to work!!! P40s have arrived :)

That's correct. We're going to go ahead and start enabling more planes with each patch even though they aren't completed.
If you are making a skin for a plane with the older textures, you'll want to increase the texture size to the new standards.

Wow, Pyro you just saved me a heart attack. Saw the old 256 size bitmap for the P40E and P40B and felt a pain my left arm... then I read your post. :D

This is a great idea! HTC need not spend any time on skinning, once a flight model is updated for a plane, throw it into the Beta and let the community skinners go to work ;).
Cya Up!

oh yeah! ah skinners, unite!! Get working on the unfinished planes!!!
*begins skinning p40*

*shrug* makes some form of sense...means superfly and natedog can spend more time on the actual models...

Pyro, when you say that the planes are not completed, you do mean that these will eventually have the 1024x1024 skins?

I want to give creating skins a shot, and I was wondering what you guys are using to create skins. Anyone got an article on a website on doing this? Special programs?
Also, I'm looking for images to make noseart from. Anyone know where to find them and how to get them on the planes? I'm looking for an Indian warrior on horseback with a rifle, and an Indian woman appropriately scantily clad, in particular.
Thanks,

do a search on google for GIMP-its good freeware image editing even though its a little buggy.
