Just curious which of ya'll fly with Combat Trim on?
I don't.
Tell the truth now... :P

I use CT. I'm paying for it, so I use it (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)
I turn it off now and again though. Just depends on the situation. Is a very nice aid for us non-pilots.
Also use auto take-off and auto pilot: angle climb and speed.
In real life I don't park in handicap parking. Never kicked a dog either.
-
I dont use ct in a dogfight.
but I do use it occaisionally in leu of Autotrim angle at times just to trim the plane up when im feeling lazy and not directly engaged.
Ive found it much more effective to trim the plane for 300 mph thus giving resistance to work against for a steady solution at lower speeds and higher speeds are managable quite easily in most planes.
however for serious dogfighting combat trim is a hinderence more than a help and it is not wise to use it in combat (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

No CT, No Pad.
I chatted with Pyro about CT. He thought I was going to like CT, given my posts about trim NOT being a primary flight control.
It isn't. People shouldn't really need to use trim to be competitive in dogfighting. If they do, it's an artificial "difficulty level" addition to the gameplay aspect. As long as everyone understands that and agrees to the need for it, I guess it would be OK.
I'm guessing that like other aspects of this game, CT will continue to be refined and improved. Right now, my perception is that I can trim better and faster than CT does to keep my airplane in "combat trim" (which I basically shouldn't have to do...see Andy Bush's multiple explanations).
Eventually, CT will get better, to the point where there isn't much difference between what I do and what the game will do for me.
Just a speculation based on HTC's dedication to improving the game.
-
CT bad, also seems harder to recover from a stall when CT was on. Manual trim goood.
-
I use it, sure. Er, that is to say that I don't turn it off. I didn't have enuff buttons/hats on my stick to be usin' trim during a fight, so I didn't. Now, if CTs on when I fly, I guess it's on. Don't really know what difference it makes.
But sure, you warriors can be proud of using manual trim if it makes ya happy (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
-
Never used it, completly forgot about it...doh!... auto padlock too... oh well, I'm fine without it so far. I like right hand on the stick, left hand on the numpad for view/trim.
change for me 1.04 to 1.05 is that I need to press the trim keys longer, looks like trim "range of motion" is bigger or more sensitive.
Did auto-trim helped some of you to win dogfights?
-
Hell-I think it's an advantage perhaps to fly out of trim as your plane may respond in ways an in trim plane can't. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)
Seriously,I just rudder as I feel the need and am fairly succesfull doing so.I'm sure an in trim plane will handle marginally better than an out of trim adversary but,
if you win the ACM battle the 'war of trim'
matters little .

I was negative against CT.
But recently, I'm using CT in general fight except dive attack. also, I often use CT when cruising, and dive-bombing. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
Well, as my conclusion, I think no CT is better in heavy stall fight. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

CT.. yuck.
What Cit said.. sometimes I'll flick it on for speed tansitions. I find the nose bounce when it's on excessive.
Hang
-
I like CT for casual fight, but I go right to the trim buttons when it gets heavy.
Also.. some strange things happen with CT on especially during compression. Kicking it off for a battle is the best thing you can do.

I don't use it, but not because of any realism concerns. I don't find it easier to fly with it enabled.
-
Nope
-
No combat trim, no padlock. I'm not able to come out of compression with CT on.
-
I don't use CT as a rule but find it useful on high torque a/c like Typhoon when I get my knickers in a twist with manual trim and need to trim quick before a fight.
Padlock - tried it and don't like it. I like being able to swop quickly from the instruments to my target
-
Who cares? What does it matter who fly's with what on? (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

I've got trim mapped to the rear hat on the throttle of my X-36 so don't use the combat trim - I generally use trim to follow evasive maneuvers without sharp stick movements that would lose me energy.
-
I use it. Only when in high speed dives I override it.
Pretty much how I played before CT was introduced, only I used the Shift-X as my "CT" and really only changed to manual when in high speed dives.

Tried CT when it was first introduced. Have gone back to auto/manual trims. Never tried Padlock.

I always toggle CT off when I enter a fight.
I tried Padlock once the first day it was introduced and I just can't see how anyone could possibly use it to any advantage in a fight.
-
Never use Padlock.
I use CT cos I am lazy, in a real flyin by the seat of pants furball tend to turn it off, also have to turn it off when landing, otherwise it tries to propel U off the side of the runway.
-
No combat trim.
No padlock.

No combat trim here, and I've never even tried the padlock.

Neg....I've aquired the habit of manually trimming with a CH Pro Throttle(thanks Toad) (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
I found I can do things in a 51 that I cannot do if using CT.
I'm Out!

Nope, I found it harder to fly with CT enabled, especially in buffs.

No CT. To be fair, it took a day or two for me to realize that the green light was on because CT was defaulted, then I turned it off.
No PL.
Yes tracers.

Tried CT, didn't like it.
Padlock...no use for it...my SA is better using view buttons.

Combat trim, nope, although I had it on for a while and didnt notice, turned it off and I have to say i didnt notice much difference.
Padlock...tried it once, hated it and dont use it anymore

No combat trim
No padlock

CT, have been, mainly for jabo, but think from the responses I've seen here, I prolly try turning it off more often for fighting.
Padlock, haven't even tried it. Can't see where it would give anybody experienced with keeping track of a con any kind of advantage. & can't say I'm at a loss for keys to remember as it is (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Depends on the plane. The 1c in easymode is deadly as hell.
BTW. Like WB EZ mode it has to be learned. There are tricks to it. And you have to stick with it awile to learn how to use it. There is little point here though. But if they build a ACA type arena (and IMHO they should) it would be well worth learning.
