Hi all,
One thing with AH made many people unhappy. It is fleet hiding. Some want it in action at once, some want to use it stratwise, some prefer to hide them far away. This thing created some heated word battles for all lifespan of the AH.
Here is an idea, keep everything as it is in AH MA, but make fleet visible for all sides if it is not back to its port within 6 hours (time may be different). If it is not into action more than 6 hours, it is most likely hidden. If it is hidden, side which lost it can see it at map, and hunt it down to return it back.

Makes sense.
What would determine if it sees action or not? ie, Enemy within X range of CV, friendly usage of CV, CV within X range of enemy base?
-
how about just a 12 hour counter....
if a port is taken and held for 12 hours the CV automatically respawns at the port and to the country that owns the port.
unrealstic? yes
will there be somone whining "i was trying to recapture the port and was XXX minutes away"? yes
will it make fleet hiding not happen? not totally
will somone be re-loading their F4u4 on the CV when it respawns? probably sometime
but hey this is the best i have come up with in 2 years LOL.
it kind of balances the equation.. like buff guns,

Make it visible if you up a Catalina (hint hint) and fly within 75 - 100 miles of it?

Yep, Reward Maritime Patrol. Add some bomber perk points if you want. Obviously this is no small fix, but I think it would be a great addition to have the enemy Fleet show up on the clipboard map when you get within visual range, on a "Patrol" mission.
But I'm a boring tard, what do I know?

Recon birds... I made that suggestion about a year ago. Instead of having dot dar that lets you see everything add some recon planes. While over your target and while "taking pictures" your country gets a view of the field your over. Set a time limit like 10 or 15 minutes... whatever you want. Give a perk bonus for completing a run. Make it as easy as you want or as complex as you want. :)
-
I support the patrol planes, give vulnerable an important goal.
I think some better logistics would be appreciated too, like supply vessels. They would be slow and vulnerable giving torpedo bombing a target you can actually hit. They will have to be escorted by other vessels etc ofcourse.

Allowing some planes a form of air borne radar that can see where tower based radar cannot would add a game play feature.
The Catalina was ussed by US UK and Russia.
All the data is already on a players FE......... a cat pilot would simply be able to see a CV when in range.
Equally an oboe equiped Mossie would see enemy ac .

Yup, well, I originally suggested the Catalina idea about 3 or 4 years ago. Before I suggested dropping a buoy to indicate last known position of a submarine or CV (that would show up on the clipboard for X amount of minutes). I think that would be too risky but if the fleet simply appears on radar within 75/100 miles I think that would reward patrols as sikboy said.

Could not agree more. There has to be some function for the Cat that is unique to it, and that one and air/sea rescue would be it. (Pilots who are rescued at sea and returned to base retain a higher percentage of their perks, pilots rescuing them receive many perks).
The otehr thing a Cat recon could do is as long as it is out there teh radar range of your homeland is extended.
That and dropping depth charges, bobs, two torpedoes, resupply and base capture . . . .

Or why not just make a user submitted map mark? I.E. Someone sees it, then marks it on the map for everyone to see, along with general direction.

Here's my idea for fleet visibility: Give the commander of the fleet the option of turning fleet radar on or off. If it's off, the fleet is not visible to the enemy on the clipboard map, so long as it's outside radar range of any bases and fleets. However, the fleet's radar is then not providing any warning to the owning side. Turning the fleet radar on will light up friendly and enemy planes and fleets, but will make the fleet visible on map to enemy (always visible to owning side, of course). This emulates real-world "EMCON" operating condition, which stands for "Emission Control" condition, where the ship/fleet does not radiate electronic emissions so as not to alert enemy of ship's/fleet's presence. This would require another arena set up parameter for radar, i.e. surface search radar range.

Great idea!
Sea rescue: Downed/bailed pilots could sit around, wait for a PBY to land. Make a 'rescue zone' around the pilot. Once the PBY comes to a stop, a timer kicks in for, say 15 seconds, similar to the rearm pad feature we have now. After the 15 seconds, the bailed pilot joins the PBY and they fly home. The incentive could be for perks: lessened penalty for being shot down or lessened perk points lost as a result. And a reward in the form of perks for the PBY pilot. OR - count one successfull rescue as subtracting one "Death" in the score that so many actually care about?
I personally would have no use for this in the MA as I could care less about score and perk points are plentiful and a non-issue for me.... but would be a really neat feature nonetheless.
And looking waaay beyond, perhaps directing artillery fire with a Storch or Piper Cub could provide some fun.

who cares if its hidden, takes 5 mins to suicide sink the thing anyways.
