Make ships vulnerable for gunfire. Currently you can only sink a ship with bombs or alot of rockets. It takes much bombs to sink a ship, when thinking, in real life a few bombs would criple a ship.
The ship will steam on without noticing anything from your bombs untill you actually sink it.
The old idea now, make ships vulnerable for bombs/gunfire and rockets. When shooting it etc. you'll destroy some AA on it. (currently the radar is destroyable tho)
You might hit it's engine compartiment so it would stop/hit his rudder which makes the ship uncontrolable.
Any other thoughts/comments?

cvs are already easy enough to sink, however i remember reading in the interview wargamer did with hitech that in the future individual parts of a ship can be distroyed, ack, ect.
-
That's awsome! Vive la HiTech :)
-
The guns and things are already destroyable in AHII.

I like the idea about certain parts of the ship being damaged, such as one of the engines or rudder. If an engine was hit then it would go at a slower speed until all other engines are hit or the ship is sunk. of course damage to the engines and rudders could only be done with torpedos, and the things such as guns and radar with rockets, bombs, and from strafing.

The things are already destroyable? Im on it right away! (I might find some bugs :D)

I heard the we might be getting subs.. subs are great rudder killers

frank go offline and remove protect objects and shoot at your cruiser with ptboat. you'll sink it.
-
There are no pt's in AHII :)

guns and radar can be damaged, but not engines and rudder. Would be nice touch, and have something such as catalina (hint hint) or supply ship fix parts of it .
-
Currently the lethalty is pretty high, it took 2 x 100lbs bombs/rockets to sink the cruiser...

I'd like to see em either smoke/burn when damaged or trail oil slicks in the water
-
I don't think we'll necessarily need oil slicks, but a smoke pillar being an indicator of specific damaged ship part(aside small AAs), would be necessary.

Yea smoke would be great But then some folks will complain about it effecting framerates.
I wouldnt know. for whatever reason even on my old P500 with only 64 megs of video ram I never had smoke effect my framerates.
Actually other then when a massive amount of planes in the area did anything effect my framerates. and then only sometimes.
Not smoke, terrain. nothing.
Guess maybe Im just lucky
