When you destroy the radar on the carrier, it will disappear and catch fire, but the fire stays on 1 place and doesn't follow the ship. It looks like there's just a fire floating above the sea.
Also the smoke disapears when moving trough it with God mode.
When you restore the radar, it won't come back and keep on smoking.
When restoring and destroying it a couple of times, there will be multiple fires hanging above the sea.
