Was an interesting show, It goes to show just how resiliant the human body is. It also showed how close Von Stouffenberg came to possibly ending the war 10 months earlier.
For those who didnt see it, They recreated the Plot to kill Hitler by using 3D animation and ultimatley blowing some stuff up. Their first test was using the same variables as the incident itself and suprisingly they achieved almost identical results as the incident itself. Concluding from thier test was the loss of hearing in his right ear, Shrapnel Wounds on his legs and arm. They concurred the blast was survivable.
In thier other tests they kept it in the place where Von Stouffenberg had originally placed it before he moved it behind a table leg. His clothing was completley blown off and he suffered major shrapnel wounds across his entire body. They deemed the blast unsurvivable.
The second test was done with 2 pounds of explosive, it was stated that in a rush, Von Stouffenberg only placed 1 pound of explosives in his briefcase, If he had more time he could have placed two.In this test they placed it behind the table leg like the original test. The test showed that the walls would have been blown out, Hitler would have lost both arms in the blast and probably been killed instantly.
Anybody else see it?

Yeah, I watch it twice last night and it was pretty good to see how Hitler survive the blast. Hitler should be dead if that german officer didnt move the briefcase and the war would be over and again, million people probably would live today.

Yeah thats what they kept saying, but you really dont know for sure. Especially of the number of people it could have saved.

That's true, I wasnt too sure about many things in late 1944 before 1945 and many people are trying to kill Hitler, but failed.

I saw the show and was really impressed by how a recreation over 50 years later could produce almost the identical results of the orginial event.
It's sad they missed him, but nobody got Stalin either. We are all fortunate that these two spent themselfs fighting each other.

I'm sure the Germans, the Russians and everyone in between appreciate that.

Stalin didn't really have a peaceful end. He had a stroke and spent his last hours as a vegetable. Some suspect there was foul play.
If Hitler had been killed by the bomb, the war might have lasted longer. Hitler might have been seen as a martyr. These were key considerations in the cancelling of the SOE operation to take him out. It was figured that the German war machine in the hands of Hitler would collapse faster than if it had a purely army command.

Very true, just finished reading Galland's book - The way Hitler reacted with the 262 is so stupid he even rebuffed Willy Messerschmitt's and Galland's pleas to make it a fighter. His intervention kept the programme back atleast a year and he even rejected a plan to produce 1,000 262's a month.
"To avoid any misunderstanding, no one in future was allowed to refer to the Me262 as a fighter, not even a fighter-bomber, but only as the blitz bomber. One might as well have been given orders to call a horse a cow!!
