Title: A PLEA to fellow KNIGHTS
Post by: Max on February 26, 2004, 08:26:05 AM
There's a critical key to not losing the Mindinao map - leave A44 in the hands of the bad guys. It's a black hole, a sink hole, a retched toilet, a barf bag of a base.

DO NOT HAVE FUN!!!

Fun will not be tolerated in this game.

You will only fly to pre-approved fields and you will NOT enjoy it.

I find myself going there quite often...always a big furball there.

Never really pay any attention to who has it.

Take it?  Who wants to take it?  I just want to fly over it in the midst of 3 countries of fighters engaged in low-flying furball action =)

The Bish don't want it either... it is a sucky resource suck.  I know, let's just let the Rooks have it.  Since they are lower on the evolutionary scale, their primitive brains won't figure it out until it's too late!

if there is a fight there then that's the place to be.

The only strat in AH is.... the chess piece with the most numbers "wins" the reset.   It really is that simple.

Simple math 235+rooks X 195+ bish - 100 knights = map reset
end of story!

The amount of pilots (in all countries) that participate in the never-ending furball that takes place in the A44/A1 area represents a large part of the AH poplulation that don't give a rats arse who wins the war. Remeber this the next time you think of trying to humilate those in that area into participating in "The War" and you can only wonder why they ignore you.

If you are a die-hard strateegerist ... the manpower that is used in that area is considered to be a waste. I once thought the same, but have long since embraced the "Darkside" and now only really look for MY style of fun and a good fight ... and not neccessarily in that order.

Wouldnt it be great if we could try to encompass all aspects of the game at 1 time?

The strat guys could be targeting strat, the furballers could cover the strat guys & the buff hunters could target the strat guys, providing targets for furballers-

Find what pleases you, then do it.

I still think Bish and Knights should ally when rook numbers get up to double of their own.

But it's hard to get 295 people to agree.

If the the game should automatically turn bish and knights green with each other and turn killshooter on until the numbers get even again, that'd be kewl.

I got whooped on when I whined about tank town. That got me started thinking and I have now adopted the following philosophy:

1. The team with consistently the most people on wins resets.
2. You can bang your head on the wall about not getting resets, and end up with a sore head, that's about it.
3. The only REAL teams on AH are squads.
4. Nobody's strategy will ever be as good as yours, and yours will be totally ignored.
5. The main point of the game is to blow up the other guy, everything else is just window dressing.

Just fly and have fun wherever, for me that's usually with the squad somewhere. We kicked butt last night taking some fields on Bish Island, damn good real estate. But nobody ever showed up to take advantage of it until it was too late. Oh well.....still great fun though.

The bottom line is do what's fun for YOU.Like to furball?Do so.Like to capture bases? The same.

The only thing that annoys me is when I see the armchair generals berating people because their wisdom is being ignored.

THAT would make sense. and thats not allowed here LOL
what both sides fail to see is by doing that  each would comliment theother nicely andeveryone would get what they wanted out of the game And the furballers would get a change of scenery to look at once in a while.
Best way to atract a fuball is to attack a base. defenders up attacked base and viola instant furball.
Also best way to get your base attacked is to up for a large furball.
Furballers attract baseporkers like flies to dung. Its always been that way and always will be in the MA so long as there are porkable feilds.
The only way around it is to borrow a page from AW and create an unporkable, uncapturable, fightertown. and HTC seems to be highly resistent to that idea. ORR for the pure Furballers to go to the DA. which they dont want to do.
the only other workaround is to learn to work together and compliment each other. OR for each side to continue to piss and moan about each other on things that just arent gonna change.

My prediction....
the pissing and moaning will continue.

Thats the the longstanding idea behind 3 country arenas.
Unfortunately it VERY rarely works that way.

I've always felt that two or 4 country arenas would be better. Sides would naturally balance themselves out because people want something to fight against

No, they don't.  Hence porking.  Hence horde tactics.  Hence milkrunning.

Alot of folks want to win, but do not want to have to fight someone else to do it.

I think that's the definition of strateegery, isn't it?

I'm a knight, and as one, I feel proud that we never win.. it shows we are just having fun...unlike when i flew for bish you get some tinpot general trying to push people around..i always feel abit sad when I see swarms of groany's and dweeb lalas coming in.. how boring..:aok

i think if you want to win resets go bish..

BINGO !!! ... Furious, for an FDB, your a pretty smart guy ...  :D

It's a good thing that the ammo bunkers are only attached to ordianance otherwise those porkin' dweebs would have something else to assure that they never meet conflict.

There is only one solution that I can think of, and that is to harden the fuel strats to something equvilent to 500-1000 lbs of ordiance expended on it before being destroyed.

HTC knows from experiance that 2 and four countries don't work... 3 is still the best balance...  3 only works if the maps are good tho.   small maps are fine and so are ones with rfields close together... on the anal maps like pizza it the sky accountants and strat girls run from their own shadow and spend the night hiding from each other or "organizing" gangbangs.

Just curious, But what experiance that would be? so far as I know I've never seen a two  or four country map in a Main Arena here or in AW.
So far as I know its never even been tried as a MA setup.
Could be wrong though since I havent been around AH since its creation.
What I do know is 3 country arenas dont or I should say RARELY work the way they are intended to and never have.
If the two weaker countries tended to fight the one stronger one I'd agree. But thats not what usually happens.
Typically what we usually end up with is the two countries with the most numbers ganging up on the one with the least numbers in a race to take the most feilds. While barely skirmishing each other just enough to not loose too many bases to one another.
In the case you might as well just have two countries anyway.
Small maps are fine if all you like is one big furball or gangbang.
I Dont.
The larger maps Pizza included, seem to have a range of options with some feilds closer to one another then others. I furballed the better part of last night  about 5 hours and I dont think I spent more then 10 minutes tops getting to the fight and more times then not it was a significantly shorter time then that which really isnt much different then I experiance onthe smaller maps.
Also the problem with the Smaller maps is they tend to end up as nothing more then one big gangbang be they "organized" or not.
Problem with the feilds that are close together on any map is those are usually the first ones to be captured. Or if they arent they are the first ones porked which means to get to the furball you ended up having to fly a greater distance. Just like you would on the larger maps.
While Some of the spawn points are screwed up.
On Pizza map I see nothing wrong with the map itself other then they way countries are situated at the start. Each country should start  completely owning  1 of the 3 land masses and a couple islands. they way they set it up now makes no sence whatsoever.
Bottom line is each map is what you make of it. If you want to find somehintg to have fun doing while your on it you can. and if you want to be miserable on a particular map, you can do that too.
The fun is up to you.
