Soon we will be in a society thinking happy happy thoughts, getting fined everytime we swear,  and the only restaurants are Taco Bell.

Stern's show is still being carried on stations owned by a rival radio network, Infinity Broadcasting, that distributes it to major markets nationwide. In 1995, Infinity paid the largest cumulative FCC fine to date, $1.7 million, for various violations by Stern's radio show.

"Naughty words" = $1.7 million?  Is the FCC turning this into some sort of business?  Sheesh, lighten up.  FCC is outdated.

Pay radio?  How would that work, encode frequencies?

Satellite radio does this already, no reason the new digital radio can't either in the future.

Can this be done via good ol' fashioned antenna broadcasting?  I I mean, you can't privately broadcast over a certain frequency.

I find it funny that Clear Channel just now, after the FCC investigated, decided that they didn't like one of their DJ's and fired him.

Was his show acceptable until the FCC looking into it?

And Howard Stern.  What a freaking load of crap he is.  "They are afraid of me and what i represent."  Give your ego a rest, baby.  Anyone can get on the air and talk about naked girls, boobs, sex and cuss.  It's not like he has a corner on the market either.

The hypocrisy of the world makes we want to find a novel hovel in the middle of the woods and blow up the world.

It is really pretty simple, YOU are the assclown if you listen to Howard Stern, Bubba, Or any other "shock jock".  You know he is gonna say offensive things so simply dont listen to it.  No one is forcing you to turn your radio to that station, not is anyone forcing you to listen.  The government playing babysitter for clueless morons is very troubling, they took away my right to listen to what I choose.  Whereas Janets boobie incident I didnt have a choice, (not that I gave a flip) equating what happened at the Superbowl to someones decision to tune into a radio station is absurd.

I see more lude, derogatory, and violent images in primetime TV than anything else and yet you hear nothing about it.  Hell "The Terminator" is the govenor of California, I would love to see the statistics of how many people he killed in his movies, well over 1,000 I would say.  Whats next the FCC banning certain actors for what they say or do, burning books b/c they are deamed obscene???

He was a pioneer in radio and many of the shows you hear today are copies of what he started.

Not trying to sound flippant.

But who freaking cares if he 'pioneered' it or not.  It's still trash radio.  He got lucky that he was allowe dto present it.  It's not like he is a greek god.

Originality?  Bullsh8t.  I can hear what he presents at any construction site across america.

His big claim to fame is that he was one of the first to say certain things on radio (kinda like Bono saying "f8ck").  Big whoopty f8cking do.

All in all it really isn't all that artistic.  Kinda like Andrew Dice Clay compared to Red Skeleton.  One is shallow and relies on charged words to make a point and one that already has a point.

Stern can be dragged out into the street and shot for all that I care.  There are thousands who would replace him in a heart beat just simply for the recognizition.

I think your missing the point, it isnt about whether you like him or not it is the witch hunt the FCC is on......where will it stop?

I hope it doesn't.  I hope it continues until everything is gone.  Gone and deserted.  Total destruction.  The FCC is but an instrument of ME.

I AM A JEALOUS GOD AND NONE SHALL COME BEFORE ME.

Seriously, I don't mind people saying and hearing certain things, but I don't want these things to be prevelant on the open 'open' air as it were, wether it's radio, tv, or internet.

If you want to watch, and are above the approved age, an X-rated film...then watch it.

OTOH, if you and 12 and you can tune into the local radio station and hear about prostitutes and the last time they received oral sex and which parts of it they liked and how it could have been better, then I have a problem with that.

Perhaps you missed my point.  Society sucks.  It's going downhill.  In the past it was considered that Elvis's swinging hips would bring down society.  Later it was considered the Beatles would.  I don't really care to point fingers to be honest but something really should stop IMO.

We seems to be sliding back into Roman times.  And if I was Roman I would be standing tall and screaming, 'Whooohoooo'.  But as it is I'm not and I don't.  *Sigh*

What I would like is for a world without people simply trying to push the boundries simply because those boundries are there.  If these people redirected their energies into actually helping us then we would be so much farther along as a race.

Side note:  In every Sci-Fi movie where work has been eliminated from the human race due to science advances we always see the human race reveling into artistics and scientific advances.  Oh how I wish this was the truth.

Bullsh8t.  We will just continue to dwell into the base things we already have embedded ourselves into.  We will continue we watch Friends or the next show presented to us.  We will worry about the latest pop star and her sex/marriage life.  We will put our lifes on hold until we figure out how the latest film star has lost so much weight and dedicate ourselves to the latest diet also.

I hope everyone and everything dies.

Have a nice day.

I guess that turning off the TV isn't an option eh?

Try it, science & art are going where you only wish...look man

Actually I don't watch much TV.  I watch the weather channel in the mornings and possibly Law and Order in the evenings.

Shut up dumb8ass.  Science and art are a diminishing passions.

During times past people were worried about their conditions.  They prayed to God and fought against injustices.

Today, most people pray to their cell phone and sue to get what they 'deserve' against perceived injusticies.

If you don't think were heading into another decadent catalystmatic revolution then you are the on who isn't looking.

Egocentric individuals will think that our society will live forever but it won't.  The Romans and Greeks thought the same.

When the revolution comes I hope it's your back against the wall.

Shut up Frenchy (LOL)

I'm serious.  I think we are going down.

Do you know how long the Romans or Greeks were around?  I will say a significant amount of years.

I supposed we assume that we have been around a while and that the earth is all 'stable' with the people on it that we are safe.

I disagree.  One crazy (nuclear) move and well are right back with the 15th centuary.  Asking about electricity and the lot.

My opinion:  It should happen.  Who cares about a race that is more concerned with the 'celebrities' and less concerned with helping the downtrodden and needy.

Burn, baby, Burn.

Thank you and goodnight.

I used to listen to a music station(wbcn), but one day I woke up to find my music had been replaced by some prettythangwipe who kept saying "show me your boobs". That was the last time I listened to that station(aside from the Patriots).

Stern did not pioneer smut radio, there were plenty of talk radio morning programs b4 him that pushed the envelope. He was just the first to get away with it. And he thinks he is some kind of genious, what a joke.

Hehehe ....

Where you been? Ain't you bought a satellite "decoder" yet? :D

If a signal can be encrypted on a cable then a signal can be encrypted when it's broadcasted.

Stern was whining about "right wing facists" as are many liberals. I guess it should be ok for him to spew whatever he wants over the public airwaves while it's abhorrent for a public school teacher to quietly wear her "cross" on a chain around her neck? Or, that judge in Alabama was justly fired for refusing to remove the ten commandments while it's ok for city officials to continue breaking the law in San Francisco?

These sorts of double standards will weaken all of our laws and create unbridgeable chasms among our peoples.

Sterns ability to do radio is not effected in the slightest.  With the exception of Miami, the markets were hardly influential.  No one has a radio in Kansas anyway.

6 months and everything will be normal.  If not, he'll do everything he can to get fired.
