No I think it was one of the Iowas. Incredible shot with new radar gun directors IIRC.

Either British or German, something like 20,000yds plus in the N Atlantic.

HMS GLORIOUS (22,500t,1917, ex-cruiser, carrier from 1930) Sunk by gunfire, "Scharnhorst" and "Gneisenau", latitude of Narvik, Norway, 40/06/08

For the Brits later, Battle of North Cape, by the DoY vs the Scharnhorst.

HMS Warspite vs. Giulio Cesare in like 1940? Hit at around 26k yards.  I think KM Scharnhorst and HMS Glorious works out in German claims to be about the same.  I heard one of the US ships scored hits or sank a target that was out of sight, but I cannot name it if it occurred.

"In 1940 “at Calabria, Warspite planted a shot on the Italian flagship at a range of 26,400 yards, the longest ship-to-ship hit in history.”"

The Italian flagship's name was "Giulio Cesare".

HMS WARSPITE it is.

26,400 Yards against the Italian Battleship "Giulio Cesare" during the Battle of Calabria, 1940. Record still stands.

Not bad for a WW1 retread!

Congrats! :aok
