If you're a Skyhawk fan, you should definately check out this program the Australian navy pioneered:

The Royal Australian Navy Skyhawk, being an all-purpose aircraft, was the subject of a 1970s experimental sea trial of an A-4 on board a Royal Australian Navy submarine. There was no objection from the aviators to operating the Skyhawk from the somewhat limited deck space of the submarine. A problem with the Skyhawk's turbine cavitating while underway submerged was overcome. The diesel catapult worked just fine. However, the experiment was abandoned when the submarine's XO objected to the jet blast burning the paintwork off the sail.

I'll see your 'Nice old plane...' and raise it to 'Great old plane...' :)

A-4 Skyhawk consistently blew away all the newer planes at Fightertown.

There is about 10 of these fine old planes parked on the ramp at Marana Northwest Regional Airport near Tucson right now. I am assuming they are there for restoration to display status from the bone yard at Davis Monthan AFB. They are next to a hanger that specializes in restorations. Haven't gone over to confirm anything on them, I just saw them there the other week when I went flying.
