From AP Wire story. (http://www.mercurynews.com/mld/mercurynews/news/breaking_news/8060719.htm)

Quote
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Smith & Wesson's parent company named a new chairman Friday to replace James Joseph Minder, who resigned after it was revealed that he had been convicted of a string of armed robberies and a prison escape in the 1950s and 1960s.

smith and wesson has had a tough time... Used to be a family owned buiseness and then they sold it to a bunch of limeys who tried to run a firearms co while at the same time hating firearms and appeasing anti gun nut groups..

workers bout the allmost bankrupt and now hated (by everyone including gun owners) co.

They have had their problems but I am trying to figure out what it is exactly about being a bank robber in the 50's would make you less qualified to run a co.  Didn't he do all his time?

I gotta agree with you Lazs.  Seems this is more a success story and proof that the prison system can do some good occasionally.  Initially, when I read the title, I thought that he was still an escapee... but it turns out he served all his time, then ran a youth home for 20 years before retiring.  It's a good thing we can just chose one period of a man's life to define him vrs what is known about the man today.

Good point. We have a reformed cokehead alchoholic as President.
I'm surprised nobody made the Springfield connection. C'mon....that's funny.

Unfortunately, not all presidents can be reformed. We recently had a rapist in office for 8 years.

Thanks Meitla. I try.

You can also always count on someone to stretch the truth about Clinton.
