I have the hardest time with Tempests. They seem to kill me more than any other plane. Any tips on how to defend against them? Especially in a D-9?
Thanks in advance

fall asleep
*wait*
hmmm go to kitchen get beer
come back
ah hes finally grown a pair here he comes
lazily evade his pathetic limp-wristed flailslapping spray.
repeat as needed
-
hmm if i recall you should be able to outclimb at somepoint
just engage autoclimb and watch him fall back below you then bnz him.
check the charts though im not positive

was curious and checked.... it's way too close for doing what i said lol. You just gotta know better acm :P

Patience is the best attribute when fighting a tempest. Its my favourite perk ride but gets boring waiting for kill opportunity. In d9 wait for him to make a few turns until your about co-e. He will then try to outdive you. You should catch him in the initial part of the dive. If your not worried about hit percentage..blaze away...1 ping and his radiator usually toast. GL

Stay below 15k, you'll probably never see one. If you do, it will be some nadless skippy who is running home.
-
Most of the time I just stay out of their gunsites.

Well, it looks like I'm going to avoid them for now, but will try and learn a way to beat them. My deaths by them have mostly been in 190s, so I'll run for now when driving one of those(lol).

Use the LA7. For some reason Temps think they can out run them. You may have to chace them for a few minutes but you will kill them

Use the LA7.
I do use the La7 and I don't have any problem with them while flying that model. It just seems when I up a 190 there's an "all country" message that goes out saying "Stony's upping a 190, easy kill available".
:D

remember in a 190 youse da man
you gotta remember that and throw that physics crap outta the window.
110s can turn with a temp if you forget about all that stalling crap and think about the Willy/Kurt force

Temps are over perked Tiffy's IMO...
Never liked them for how they are perked. I can do just as much dammage in my slow rolling Tiffy as i can in a Tempy. As far as speed goes... Well I dont see the big trade off. BnZing is fun and all but when kill someone in a turn fight in a tiffy its very rewarding.
I just dont see the advantage in the MA that the Temp has over the Tiffy for most MA conditions.

everytime I've seen a tempest, I thought it probably looked exactly like what it'd've looked like if it'd been the real wwii.

Lol, one time I found one killing planes on the runway. He did not even think about fighting. Chaced him for 3 sectors and killed him

If he's on your 6 diving, usually if you just turn hard once, they will go back up to the stratosphere and wait for someone else who isn't paying attention...
If he stays with you, use what the 190s do best... rolling scissors. Cut your speed and use his against him. I'm no expert on tempests, but get a tiffy slow and tell me how good you get it to maneuver. Thats really all a tempest is: a jacked up tiffy. Also, most of the time, the guys flying tempests hardly ever fly them because they are perked. They only take them out when they are looking for a little variation, so they most likely won't know how to fly um. Just watch out with the scissors, cus he's packing some major cannons, and you are going to have to pass by his gunsights on a snapshot at least once.
But in all honesty, I'd bet a dollar to a doughnut he doesn't follow you if you move out of the way.

Fly a Spitfire Mk.XIV and give the Tempests fits....
My regards,
Widewing
-
Agreed, fly the tyffie well or a spit XIV and there's no need to fly a temp.
<-- first post in 3 months, hope to be back inthe skies in april.
Morph, you're a sick, sick boy...

I love the Tempest..The typhy is nice as well but tempest has more escapeability. Which is needed of course for dweebs who were alerted by the one squaddie yelling "Teeeeemmmmmmppeeesssssstttttt t!!!!!!!!!!!!" over the mic. They all come runnin from 50 miles away to ho your perk ride. I have a a blast fighting 3 or 4 guys at a time who refuse to extend for alt and insist on being roped. After my 4 or so kills I can run when the pony comes in at 25k to kill me. Im not good enough to turnfight on the deck in a tempest nor would I try, thats what ponies are for :P
