You would know Rocket Jockey...:aok

Right paint scheme too! :aok

I'll take one of these. They did well against the Scarrier in the Falklands, but mainly I like them because my Dad flew them.

I know lots of Marines that are in Scarriers but would take their A4's back in a heartbeat if given the choice.

Here you go Telly - Got the right paint scheme too! :aok
All we need now are some "Argie" Skyhawks and Daggers to tangle with!

THAT PLANE SET IS UNBALANCED!!

Tell that to the Argentines - No. 800 Squadron got 15+ of them by themselves during the Falklands War. Highest scoring Sea Harrier squadron. :aok
6 x Daggers
7.5 x Skyhawks
3 x Pucaras
1.5 x Pumas
1 x Augusta 109A

More than they should have!
Someone screwed up and parked them ships in the harbour too close to land, in one case..
The argies came in at high mach and at low alt giving the ships defenses only seconds to lock on and kill them, for the most part that worked, but due to some exceptional circumstances the ships defensive systems failed to get a lock on them, forcing the operaters to reboot the systems (time consuming) and eventually lock on manually, then the argies got lucky!
Incidentally the argies lost something like 100 aircraft (all causes)

They should have sunk many more. The Argies had alot of trouble because they didn't set their bomb fuzes right. Several ships were hit and the bombs didn't go off! Also like Telly said there was alot of problems with the radars picking them out as they came in NOE. Big mistake keeping the ships anchored in harbor.
In fact the bomb that sank the frigate HMS Antelope (I believe) only exploded while demolition teams were trying to defuse it!
If it hadn't been for the Sea Harrier CAP - the Skyhawks could have made regular bomb runs and observed the problem and corrected it. But most of the time they were too busy getting the "HELL OUT OF DODGE" once they dropped their load. MANY of them never made it.
Still... all in all the "Scooter" did pretty damn good for a suposedly "Second Rate" aircraft.

Yup, I knew that I was just kiddin. I remember clearly the event. My Dad and I were obviously on the UK's side since they are the US's most solid partner, and really didn't want any deaths on either side. Dad was torn because he trained some of the Argie Skyhawk pilots in pilot exchange programs, knew some of them personally, and was proud that they accomplished their mission, but generally it was not a happy time knowing real folks were dying.

I remember it too..... i had not long left active service and was hoping to get the call to go do my duty, unfortunately they didn't need my help.
-
Well Telstar, it was good for us that you didn't. Beside's I think your Spitfire would have been too tempting a target.:lol
-
Nah Bear, don't you remember last night he said he put the sound file from the Fw-190 in it.
They wouldn't be able to touch him with a "Hot Rod" like that! :aok
Now we got to figure how we are going to hook two AIM-9L Sidewinders on it. :D
-
lol
If we're having optional extras, as well as the sidewinders, a couple off AMRAAM's would be useful, and a HARM could be handy too ;)
-
Agrie's will need some Exocets too. :)
