Ok another thread made me think about this.
Does anyone remeber the quote at the end of the movie?
By a colonel I think talking remebering their sacrafice as you go about your life?
Anyone have a text version of the quote or know where to find it?
I do not own it on DVD yet so I can not just copying from there.

my uncle was on hamburger hill,,,he was a marrine,,he got shot in the butt while taking a dump,,hehehe<~~not very funny to him,,only reason the sniper didnt kill him,,was because it took 4 men to take care of one hurt man,,good tactics in warfare,,he got a purple hart and ticket home
the stories that guy tells me,,makes you glad you was not there,,he gots a pic of him standing with a freind,,after the pic was took, his buddy got hit and died,,lots of people died while taking pics,,because you didnt wanna stand still that long over there,,,good movie too,,he said alot of the movie is closet o what he went threw,,the thing that really got to him about the movie,,was the sound of the motars coming in,,he said you never forget that sound,, movie brung chills up his spine just hearing them

To repost what I stuck in the other thread...
"If you are able, save for them a place inside of you and save one backward glance for the places they can no longer go. Be not ashamed to say you loved them, though you may or may not have always. Take what they have left and what they have taught you with their dying. And in that time when men decide they feel safe and call the war insane, take one moment to embrace those gentile heroes you left behind." Major Michael Davis O'Donnell, 1 January 1970. Dak To, Vietnam

Marines kick arse!
;)
Oorah? I thought Hamburger hill was fought by the Cavalry and 101st ABN (Army) and Full Metal jacket depicted the Marines?

imo Full metal jacket was a better film, and perhaps The Odd Angry Shot or Platoon the best

Hamburger Hill had some cliches in it, but it was based on a true story. In fact, it was based on the story of a unit from my state (101st Airborne-Kentucky).
I think the 101st suffered 450 casualties, with around 150 dead. I know the casualtie percentage was around 500% of unit size.

I saw this one at the Cinema (as a teen) and have never been able to find it over here, be it on VHS or DVD. I'd love to see it again.
