Ummm, does one completed pushup involve your chest touching the ground or your belly? ;)

I just remember the Drill Sgt sticking his fist down there so my chest would hit it.
But we used to cheat and spread our arms out wide so we would not have to go down as far.
So the Drill Sgts caught on and just added 50 to our count:(
-
I could probably do some pushups but I'm at the point in my life that unless I enjoy the physcial labor(fiddling w/ one of the cars or boats... garage stuff) I'd just hire someone to do it. If you want, I will slip one of my nephews a fiver and have him do some.
-
I do 50 with my legs up on a chair every evning except on weekends. Could do more but ive settled for 50. My hands are on the floor about an inch wider than my shoulders and the first 25 are on my fingertips. The last 25 are on my knuckles.
Done it this way for years.
-
Just did 120 this morning. Agreed, I don't touch the ground. Could prolly do 60 touching the ground.
I began to do pushups again about 1 year ago, 1 session every 2 days. After a little more of a month, I was doing 100. It's no that hard if you do it regularly.

Re: How many pushups can you still do?
That would depend on whether or not the wife is below me while performing push ups.
-
I swam 3000 metres in an hour workout this morning. No idea how many pushups I could do. I find them hard on the shoulders.

I trained under Dave Campbell at a Jon Park gym here for about five years. Dave was a world ITF champion for a few years during the Dennis Alexio and Benny the Jet era.
Great teacher with strong 2.5 hour classes, primarly oreintated around the full contact aspect of Tae with alot of Akido hand techniques for in close. He would teach practical applications of the Art not the gay and usless point sparing you find in 99% of marshal arts gyms.
Lots of full contact with open and closed 16 oz gloves, just no inner or outter leg kicks. Regardless my legs were all black and blue and often i could barely walk down a flight of stairs.
Funny thing is my inseam is the same as my reach. :rofl
cheers...

Oh, I used to practise on my commodore64, then nintendo...after a few years i graduated to playstation2 :)

Christ. What do you weight? 125 lbs?
-
I can do about 50 before my arms give out--takes about two minutes, I'm guessing.
Here's an interesting exersise though, try doing 10 per minute for 15 minutes. Starts off pretty easy, but gets pretty difficult.
-
I'm on my first.. Expecting the second anytime now.

This, as far as I am concerned, is the most sensible answer to the question.:aok
-
Btw, i weight around 200lb if my conversion from kg isnt way of :D 95kg
-
running.. yuk.. about as much fun as pushups :D
-
I did some at the YMCA today...
I was doing them for in a min.
I got to 28 before I stretched a muscle in my neck, this is after my surgery though, and my neck has been tight..
-
Seriously, I haven't done a push up in at least 10 years, but I bench press (max, 1 rep) 315 and work out regularly with 225-275 (Progressive pyramid, 4X10 to fatigue) Push ups are very hard on the shoulders as one poster proclaimed above, and I've had surgery on one shoulder, so push ups are off limits (Doctors orders, and definately no Military press weight lifting). You'd think that Bench press would be a similiar motion to push ups, but bench press doesn't affect my bum shoulder at all. Considering how much I weigh (200 lbs) I *should* be benching 350 max, but I'm getting old...:(
-
How many pushups can you still do?
Real Question is...WHY would I want to?
And second thing is...RIP IS RIGHT....
Those are the ONLY PUSHUPS I'm going to do. Wife n Place
10 toes up 10 toes down....(or whatever your preferance may be)
For you Cali Folks...that may be 20 toes down:rofl
-
Rip is like 43 or something, that's pretty good for an old fart.
And I weigh 15 lbs less than him now? Muscle or not, :p .

Come on now, I've been nice.

Lets not get all cuddly...I'm still waiting for one of your famous replies in bananas "Do you cry at the movies?" post. :D

The local Mexican Cantina calls, happy hour is only 30 minutes more.
I'll weep and share AH old school stories later.
Have fun. And leave my F4U alone in that 190.

Pushups? Pushups?!!
Why I might pull a muscle or something! :D
-
200lb isnt much Ripsnort..depending on how tall you are and how much of it is fat.
im 200+ myself and 180cm tall.
short blonde hair...
blue eyes...
firm butt...
likes long nude walks on the beach
any takers?

Nope. But FTR, I'm 6 ft 1" (Or was, probably 6' now) and 15% body fat (checked last year, calipers) 10 years ago I was 180 lbs with 7% body fat. :(
-
Pushups aint' a problem...It's that "Flexed Arm Hang" they made us do in public school that was a killer.

I think Sirloin is talking about the excercise where you do a pull up, but stop half way up and hold it.
-
aha that one
dont have any problems with those as long as you dont have a pack on your back and hang 300feet over a waterfall in a rope.
-
Not too big on pushups. Even during my peak physical condition I was only able to bang out around 40-50 in one sitting.
Dead hangs (pull ups) were my deal. Could do them all day long (the correct way - all the way up, all the way down).
Currently 6'0 170. Then, 6'0 185. Got to get back in the gym. :(
-
lol 6'0" and 185 is very thin.
o'course it depdends on body type but that tends to be the runner-type... like long-distance runner type...
as in THIN ;)
-
I'm a 60 a day man at the moment.
Except when I'm hungover or I've played football the day before.
-
Hey, remember that "feeling" you used to get when you were just a young lad from climbing a rope?
Where did that go?
LOL somedays I miss being a kid.
RTR (looking for some rope).
-
212, can to alot, maybe 100 or more. Just keep it up!

Thats pretty good rip. How about dumbells for the shoulders. I think dumbells are great.
:D
