Title: Anyone know of a good computer atlas?
Post by: GtoRA2 on March 02, 2004, 09:13:15 PM
I looked on amazon and could only find road atlases. I do not want a road atlas.

I used to have a Microsoft one back in like 94, that was really good, you could look anywhere you want, do way points to get miles and zoom etc. The closest thing I saw was some National geografic on, but it says it is based on thier maps, and I want the whole world.

Any idea? I also do not want to spend tons of money on it.

Street Atlas 2004 is good, but spendy.  Depends on whether you want GPS integration or not....  Theres also this:

Delorme puts out great stuff.  I know they have both street and topographical maps of the US available in paper and software form.  You'd have to contact them about worldwide atlases.

Hmmm I am thinking more along the lines of World stuff, but thanks guys

What I want it for, is as I read books about say the Solomons island campiagn of WW2, I want to be able to look at good maps of the area.

They are suprisingly hard to find.
