Title: how a bill becomes law
Post by: john9001 on March 10, 2004, 01:40:16 PM
in reference to another thread:

when congress sends a bill to the prez, the prez can do one of four things.

1)sign the bill into law

2) not sign the bill, the bill will then bcome law 10 days after the prez recieved it, not counting sundays. (ref. US constution)

3) veto the bill, congress can then override the veto by a 2/3 mojority vote.

4) send the bill back to congress and ask for revision.

I'm just a bill
Yes I'm only a bill
And I'm stuck here on Capital Hill

Well now I'm stuck in committee
Where I sit here and wait
While a few key congressmen discuss and debate
Whether I should rightly be a laaaaaaw

Oh how I hope and pray that I will
But today I am still
Just a bill

:)
