Look really closely at that picture... if the 51 has made a belly landing, why is the prop still spinning?

You have fallen prey to a case of forced perspective; the P-51 is making a very low-altitude pass between the cameraman and the hangars, and the angle of the shot makes it look, to a casual observer, as if the aircraft is sitting on the ground.

you must be kidding me! The shot was taken just as the blades hit. Look close at the top blade, it is curled.
BTW sorry I posted it in the wrong forum.

Tom Woods, Indy based 51.  I think it's been repaired and flying again already. That took place quite some time ago now.

Okay, two things.  The pony is MUCH closer to the cameraman than the runway.  Look how the pony is like ten times as big as the hangar.

Secondly, the prop is not bent.  The dark spot is another plane in the distance.

Thirdly, when there is a prop strike, ***** flies EVERYWHERE!  I don't even see the first hint of dust or debris.

Here is the biggest clue:

Where is the plane's shadow if it is hitting the ground?

Answer:

The plane's shadow is outside the lens aperture in the foreground, because the plane is much closer to the camera than the runway/ground.

From: http://www.warbirdalley.com/news.htm

June 2003:

7 June: A North American P-51D Mustang, N6306T (Serial No. 44-74878), made a gear-up landing at the Quad Cities Air Show in Davenport, Iowa, USA. The aircraft skidded off the side of the runway, and owner/pilot Tom Wood of Indianapolis, Indiana, was uninjured. The aircraft appeared to have suffered only minor damage.
