Title: T-boned, hit and run
Post by: Ripsnort on March 23, 2004, 09:09:43 AM

Wife was T-boned yesterday afternoon as she turned left into our platte.   A "meth'd up" driver tried to pass in a no-passing zone as she signaled to turn left and T-boned her, then split the scene. :( She is fine.  She was shook up because the passenger (A skinny 40'ish female who Laura said "I see this type in Harbor View in the ER all the time, whacked out on something…")  immediately approached her vehicle in a threatening manner, yelling at her, meanwhile her boyfriend turned their car around (White- mid-80's honda), then the women jumped back in their car and they sped off. Happened so quick that she didn't get a license number.  Kids were at home with me when the accident occurred.

Glad your wife was not injured.

Even though it is really maddening that such idiots are on the road and will probably get away with this, the fact she was not hurt is really all that matters.

looks like she tried to turn too sharp around that fire hydrant :)

glad she didn't get hurt - the car can be repaired as good as new, somethings can't

They won't get away with it forever. It will catch up to them eventually, either legally, mentally, or physically, or a combination of all three.

The vehicle is still driveable.  Just leave it the way it is and buy that fishfinder!  Its your wife's problem; let her fix it.  Why should you suffer?  Just convince yourself that it'll teach her good defensive driving skills, like checking her 7 o'clock before spinning the wheel.  :p

Another reason why I have a cheap disposable camera in my car.  Not only do I hope to catch some $1 million instant-retirement event on film, I can also take quick snaps of idiots like the above.

:rofl   Yeah, but I like my nuts hanging where they should be, not up in our garden window

Mickey, same here, I carry a camera everywhere I travel.  We discussed the "Lessons Learned" and she had checked her mirrors about 7 seconds before turning, unfortunately the turn is just on the other side of a corner, and the high speed the Honda was traveling made the situation worse.  She said it happened so fast that there would not have been time for a camera, and the fact that she was still in the road blocking traffic, she had to consider her safety first. By the time she pulled up, the car was gone.  I told her that if should ever happen again, safety first (like she did)) then pull your car up and block the other car from leaving.

So some Meth addict can put a bullet in her head because he's carrying and doesn't want to go back to prison?

Looks like there's some red paint on her car.  Check the local bodyshops for red cars getting work on the front bumper.

I found that odd...she says the car was white...maybe this is a primer color of old hondas?(Beneath the white paint?)

She has a Conceal and carry license, and knows how to handle her weapon very well, thank you. :)

Or it happened so quick that she got the color confused with the color of her own vehicle.

Buy that fishfinder and tell her next time she should pay more attention to the color of the car and the license plate number! :p

That's why you have to carry a Desert Eagle.

I hear that japanese engines don't stand up too well to a .50 AE right into the engine block...  Though sometimes you might need a second.

Sort of hard to run without an engine.

Correct me if I am wrong, but that would be improper use of a fire arm, even though we do live in an unincorporated part of the county where firearm discharge is indeed allowed. ;)

I understand your thoughts though! Would love to do that! However its illegal and reckless.

Now, Rip, would that be more, or less illegal then a hit and run?  ;)

If the plates were local (if she could catch the state), check any body shops for Hondas needing front end body work. Being that is's a Honda, it most likely carries significant damage from an accident like that. Go out crusing the local scene and see if you can find the car. Even if it's in a junkyard, the plates will yield the previous owner.

Glad to hear your wife is ok. I hope they find the bastard.

Rip, you said it happened at an intersection. Were there any surveilence cameras? Maybe a corner 7-11 got a pic.

My mistake on explanation. This is a rural road. The "intersection" is a street turn off into our Platte.  We have a few cows in the field across the way that might be able to id the car though! ;)

Good thinking! But, wife said the Honda was a real beater, and that the "couple" appeared to not be well off... ie, white trailer trash.  Chances are slim they'd have the money to do it at a body shop.  I'm going to do some cruising this week end around some questionable neighborhoods about 7 miles from here on Sat. We'll see what turns up.

Is that an SUV or a truck she was driving?  It seems to have protected her well.

Or what you could do is sit at that intersection for a couple of days and see if the Honda happens by around the same time.

99' Ford Explorer XLS. (No side airbags)

This rural road is a killer. Luckily, our neighborhood has its own entrance and road off the main rural road. The main road is posted 35 mph but if you do 50 mph on it, you'll get tail gated.  Many of those little white crosses speckle this 6 mile stretch of road.  People driving too fast, or driving drunk, hit these bigs fir trees that line the road.

Tacoma Man's Wife Gets T-Boned, He Gets Carjacked
by Jayson Blair, Times Staff Reporter

TACOMA - A local man's wife was involved in a hit-and-run accident yesterday at a rural intersection as she made her way home.  The victim, driving a white Ford Explorer, was turning left when an older Honda tried to make an illegal pass and struck the SUV near the driver's-side door.

"They just came out of nowhere.  I looked in my mirror, started my turn, and then BAM!," the victim explained.

The perpetrator then veered off the road and a passenger got out of the Honda and approached the victim.  The passenger, described by witnesses as a slender white female, made threatening gestures at the victim while the driver of the Honda maneuvered the car around the stopped SUV.  The passenger then got back into the Honda and the vehicle sped away.

"I've seen their type before.  Total white trash, probably hiked up on meth they cooked in their trailer," the woman said.

A few days later, the victim's husband decided to investigate a few local neighborhoods in search of the suspects' Honda.  While slowly cruising a local subdivision in his meticulously-groomed BMW sports sedan, the man stopped at an intersection and became a victim himself as gunmen carjacked his vehicle.

"They just came out of nowhere.  I looked in my mirror, started to go, and then BAM!", the man explained.

Police are asking for public assistance in locating a mid-80's Honda, possibly white or red, with front-end damage.  Police are also asking for assistance in recovering a BMW sports sedan, possibly with indoor/outdoor carpet fibers embedded in the tire treads.

In other news, Salty Sol's Fishing Emporium announced that it was drastically reducing the price of its premium line of fishfinders.  "The JawsHunter 2000 is our top-of-the-line model, and with the first day of Spring this past weekend, we figured we'd celebrate by having a clearance event," Sol Fleischmann, owner of Salty Sol's, announced proudly, "Come on down to Salty Sol's!  Free hot dogs for the kids!"

Funny hit and run story.

I worked with a guy, he was one of my techs I suppervised. Nice guy ride a Motorcycle to work.

He comes in late one day and is pissed.

Someone rearended him and took off, it just dented the back of the bike up and nocked him down so he was pinned and someone had to help him get the bike up. he did not get the plate since he was stuck under the bike.

So we go out and are looking at the damage, and one of the guys points at something...

"whats that"

The owner pulls it out, it was the front plate from the car.

The person claimed they where not drving it but after a battle the insurance company fixed the bike.

Few years later on the same bike someone pulled out infront of him. totaled the bike and gave my budy a new titanian part in his leg...
