Ok sometimes when i try to go to the hanger it will not do anything, and when it does do something i only have a frame rate of 0 or 1. can u tell me wat is wrong?
-
maybe your cpu isn't fast enough and/or vid card just won't handle it.
-
well this could be true but in ah i get a frame rate of bout 67 to 75 almost all the time, is that good or bad?
-
Post what vid card you are using. Also what is your vidmem showing in the ah display.

Ok i am using a intel(R)82865g graphics contrtoller vid card and my vid mem on ah is 60416k free

well just to let u know, before i had a new pc i was running and amd 1.8Xp cpu with built in graphics on MB and i was only getting 0-2 fps sooo. I would say that your pc just aint gonna cut it :(
now i have
amd 2500XP
1gb PC 2700
gforcefx 5600 256mb
and it runs great.
How much memory do u have on your pc? getting more memory will surely help. And if your MB has an AGP port check some video cards. That will help u a ton! ;)

well i have 80g hard drive and 512 ram, hows that? and it is fixin to be bout 160g
-
It's not your memory, hard drive, or cpu. It is the integrated video. You need to get a real video card. Hopefully your computer has an AGP slot otherwise your options are very limited. Integrated video like yours is not good for games.
-
well wat vid card would u recommend?
-
i run a geforce4mx440...very very cheap and I actually knock off decent framerates of about 30-40 in ah2.
should cut if for ah2 unless you play other more graphically complex games.(actually, runs great on those too with details turned down...)

For more discussion, I suggest re-opening your thread in the hardware forum but since it's here now, here goes.
"MX" cards are crippled, low performance versions and I would not recommend one. FWIW, I consider under 45 fps "low" in flightsims based on around 20 years of gaming experience. Flightsims seem far more smooth and realistic to me above 45 fps. I suggest that you aim for above that.
If you don't have much money, try finding an nvidia GeForce4 4200 or 4600 for a bit over $100. After that, you could try an ATI 9600XT or an Nvidia FX5900 XT for between $150 and $180ish. Above that, you spend whatever you want up to and beyond $400 with the Nvidia 5950 cards and ATI 9800 XT cards.
Currently the high end ATI cards seem to have an advantage in most games and in image quality, but before HiTech started using an ATI card, AH2 was definately better on nvidia cards. I suppose AH2 will probably work equally well on nvidia and ATI cards when HiTech is done optimizing for both types of video card.
I personally use a GeForce4 4200 and it runs most games just fine, but it's definately not as good as the newest cards out there. I can average over 45 fps at 1280x1024 in AH with this card, but have to turn some settings down in AH2 to stay at 45.
Before you buy anything, make darn sure your computer has an AGP slot for use with addon video cards otherwise it won't fit in.

I assume that AHII will work fine with Integrated Video Cards by final release.
I have a 2.6GHz P4 with 64mb integrated video, and I don't intend to spend money on a new video card in order to spend money to play a game.
The majority of computers bought from major manufacturers come with integrated video. A major portion of the market would be lost if they don't
-
Doubt if it will ever run on intel video chip set. They are about 4 year old tech.

The majority of store bought computers do come with onboard graphics cards this is true.
However they only get away with it because the majority of people are stoopid and believe the sales patter about it being suitable for gaming.
Onboard graphics are used by system builders because and only because its CHEAPER for them to build.
NOT because they are better or even suitable for graphics intensive gaming.
If you must buy a motherboard with onboard graphics at least double check that it has an AGP slot that enables you to upgrade the graphics card when required.
As for AH2 only HT knows if they will run but it has been stated before that the minimum requirement will be a Nvidia GF2 32mb card or equivalent.

Video cards have drasticaly come down in price. Just did a check on newegg.com - only looked for 9600's and noticed 9600SE's with 128 megs of ram starting at on about $65 including shipping now.
There ARE some PCI video cards, if you don't have an AGP slot you do have some options. PCI isn't as good a slot as AGP but it will run the game fine. (For example I have tested and was getting "good enoough" fps even with a $40 PCI geforce2 MX400 64 meg video card)
(edit to add: I also tested a geforce2 mx400 AGP slot version and was surprised performance was the same as the PCI - so it MAY be that at this level of GFX card the slot isn't as much of a bottleneck as one would have thought)
-
Just to reinforce what was said here. My motherboard has integrated video and sound controllers. The first thing I did was go out and buy an SB Audigy2 and ATI Radeon 9800 XT vid card. You simply can't compare the quality and performance of the el cheapo integrated chipsets with the state of the art add-ons (unless you have a monster motherboard that cost lots of money with state of the art blah-blah-blah on it).

That's pretty disappointing to hear. Especially how well AHI runs on my box. My refresh rate is currently at 75, at the 1024x768 resolution.
The box came with Direct X 9, and of the 64 mb currently allocated to video processing, it only uses like 24mb when running AHI
Is AHII going to be so much more taxing on a system that it will drive performance of a system that runs AHI so well down to 0?
