Post by: TBolt A-10 on March 23, 2004, 09:07:02 PM: A few times now, I’ve seen new members of the community ask how we include images in our posts. This is an easy, reliable way to do it:

First, go to the Picture Hangar (http://www.onpoi.net/ah).
Then, once you’ve created a free account at the Picture Hangar (http://www.onpoi.net/ah), you’ll need to upload the photo that you want to share.

Uploading is very easy.

Simply click on the FILE button at the top of the webpage and then click on the UPLOAD FILE button.

Click the BROWSE button and locate the picture’s file on your hard drive.

Once you’ve located the file, use your mouse to highlight the file and click the OPEN button. This will tell the Picture Hangar’s server that this is the file that you intend to upload.

Be sure to write in a caption for your photo.
Choose whether or not you want the photo to be part of your PRIVATE collection or available for PUBLIC viewing at the Picture Hangar (http://www.onpoi.net/ah) website.
Select the appropriate CATEGORY by using the drop-down menu.
Then, click on the UPLOAD PICTURE button.

The file is now “uploaded.” Please wait while the website processes your new file. You will be automatically re-directed to your personal collection.

The Picture Hangar (http://www.onpoi.net/ah) website will automatically give you a web address and vB code tags for each individual file that you upload. In order to include a picture within your post on these bulletin boards, the “Image tag” (http:// is what you’ll need. Please highlight everything in the “Image” line and copy the text (CTRL+C).

When you want to include the image within a post here at the Aces High BBS or any vB-enabled bulletin board, simply paste (CTRL+V) the “Image tag” into your message. When you submit your new post, the image will appear within your message exactly where you placed it.

Background colour Select your own background colour for the whole site. Go to your user options, it's at the bottom of the page

New Cut/Paste Method
In both your collection and the public collections, the cut/paste method has changed:

You now click on the link (Image/caption/thumbnail) and the selected link will be displayed in a textfield on top of the page. This should avoid having multiple text fields on the page and make it look cleaner.

It has been tested in IE6*, Firefox and NN6*. Please Private message me if you have a bug with this feature.

Squads
There is now a Squad/Team section.
To create or select an existing squad, go to your user options

To browse through the Squads/teams, go to the Squad/Team page.

Tutorial
There is now an updated Tutorial in the Help section of this site.

What can i do so I will be able to upload AH Screenshots?

Post by: TBolt A-10 on June 14, 2004, 03:00:24 AM: We're starting to feel a bit of a crunch in storage capacity at the Picture Hangar now that we're continuously getting new users from communities outside of Aces High. So, we locked the new membership sign-ups until other arrangements can be made.

Saw and I talked about it, though. Since the Picture Hangar was originally created for the AH community, we want to still offer memberships to AH pilots even though other communities are locked-out.

If you would like to host your files at the Picture Hangar, please email me at tbolt@onpoi.net. I'll need the following:

1) Your AH handle
2) Your email address (must be valid)
3) The country you live in

There's a JavaScript check on the upload form, you need to enable JavaScript for the upload button to work.

Have been working on the new layout this week end (as seen on the index page). It should considerably speed up loading time as well as making it more accessible to folks with disabilities. I am trying to have it displayed identicaly in IE & FF... :furious

Well, we're not exactly AH bulletin board administrators. But, I'll tell you this:

To change your signature:
Click on the [USER CP] button (at the top of this web page) and then click on the "Edit Profile" link. The signature text box is near the middle of the page.

To add an avatar:
Click on the [USER CP] button (at the top of this web page) and then click on the "Change Options" link. At the bottom of the "Change Options" page, you'll see the section you'll use in order to upload an avatar.

Max allowed size is 64 x 64 pixels and 30 KB. File format needs to be some picture - id recommend GIF (can be animated!) or JPG. Photosho files (like PSD) or others wont work.

Saw is fine. But, let's just say that some people that are close to him & his Lady have been in need of his attention.

Saw said that he is starting to upload the files to the new host tonight, and he apologizes for the delays.

His priorities are in good order, though--loved ones have to come first.

No standard login anywhere. Read I should pull down menu and click on File>> Upload File. It don't work. New page says,

"Your account has not yet been validated, please follow the link in your account activation email to validate your login and be able to upload files."

Did that twice just to be sure.

So where is the ^**%$#* login already?

The home page is messed up. But, you WILL find the login box at the top-left of the screen when you use the silver menu bar at the top of the screen to go to pretty much any other page on the site

I'd suggest clicking...
File > Upload File, or
Collections > My Collection

I checked under the hood and found that your account is already validated. Let us know if you're still having problems logging in.

Hi, Bosco. I'm not sure what you're asking.

You can download the images that are in your file by logging in here (http://www.onpoi.net/ah/news.php) and clicking COLLECTIONS > MY COLLECTION in the silver button bar.

To upload files, you'd click on FILE > UPLOAD FILE.

Also, I get a not authorized - IP address logged message when I try to delete any of the pics I have. Is there really a difference between JPEG image and JPEG?

Also I cannot seem to navigate past the 1st page of the "public collections" Can't get to any sub-categories, or use the search feature.

Used both IE and Firefox - could be an issue with some setting I have...

First off, all my pics are saved on the comp as JPEGs, GIFs, etc. but are on some strange compatability mode with 'Picture Manager'. I try to upload my pics on the site and it states that all my JPEGs (for example) are image/JPEG rather than just JPEG.

Any way to fix this?
