what did you pay?

yes the tremelo is correct...but is the SN# legit. i know 2 people who bought "SRV" models... paid over $1300 too.

only to find out a guy bought the pick guard and the reversed tremelo, mounted them on a plain sunburst strat woth about $600 and sold them as "SRV" models.

just a word of caution. email fender and ask about the SN#

I hade the serial # run by my local guitar store.
They say It is a 1995 SRV strat.

And top of that It has the poa farro frett board.
Very hard to get.
they only offerd it in the early years of SRV sig strats.
After that they wrere all brazilian rosewood.

You got it backwards.  Brazillian Rosewood was only on the early models.  The tree huggers didn't want any more being harvested and they switched to Pao Ferro since it was the closest thing they could find.

I've had mine for about 6 years now, never really play it that much.  The Texas Specials in it are a bit harsh for my taste.  I love the neck though and I ended up putting it my main guitar.

Yep yer right after looking it over it is brazilian pao ferro.
That SRV approved for use in the guitars.
Yeah Im looking foward to the Harsh growl of the Texas specials.
But that what Im into ya know.

My winning bid was $875.00

Not too bad for a 1899.00 guitar.

I unfortunately don't have another source to run the #'s.  I don't believe SRV had anything to do with the Pao Ferro.  If I remember right, he had died before the guitar even hit the market.

$895 is pretty close to what I paid for mine new.  Glad that they haven't gone down in value.  ;)

I believe the early SRV's had Brazilian rosewood fretboard..Until it was declared an endangered wood and is now banned...

It's a nice guitar..but needs a new pickguard unless u wanna get laughed at onstage.

Anybody know what efrfect lowering the pick up to flush with the pick guard would do for sound?
Title: SRV signature Strat
Post by: Wlfgng on March 26, 2004, 07:53:47 PM
yeah.. much softer and less tone. I.E.  thin sounding

in general, set the pickups as close to the strings as you can without causing buzzing and/or 'pulling' on the strings by the magnets in the pickups.

You'll get the fattest sound that way :)

nice strat.

Less than 24 hours later, I'm very impressed. What was the seller's ebay name? I'd do ebay business with him any day. I hope the seller was a nice guy and paid the priority overnight shipping charges for you...... must have cost a fortune to overnight that baby!

"Wellllllll it's floodin' down in Texas...allllll of the telephone lines are dowwwwwwwwwn..."

Very nice SRV strat,

A nice little anecdote about the SRV strat.  One of the last things Stevie did before he died was approve the prototype.  He suggested a couple of minor things but overall gave his approval.  So what you are holding there is one of the last things Stevie created.  Treat her kindly...

Possibility of moving the string out of the magnetic field "sweet spot" and thinning the sound out.

They sent a team from fender down to dallas and jimmy Vaughan let them measure and weight #1 from top to bottom.

10k I think is the asking price.

There is NO WAY you could have a winning bid on an E-Bay item, pay for that item and get it shipped to you within 24 hours. It just doesn't work that quickly, as anyone who has traded on E-Bay knows.

Some of you should know better than to bite off on anything this guy says.

Because guitars never sell for close to MSRP...

My Gibson LP has an MSRP of about $2500, but I paid just a touch under $1700.

Yeah I have seen them new at some places going for $1.300.00

Just got back from my local guitar shop
I had them pull the neck to check the date.
I have a 1992 SRV strat first year!
I am happy bout that cause I have heard
that they started using a smaller neck in later year productions.
